LEWISTON, Maine – Bates College's Ami Evans hammered 20 kills and the Bobcats defeated the Hamilton College Continentals in four sets (25-18, 21-25, 25-15, 25-20) inside Bates' Alumni Gym on Saturday, Sept. 21.

- Hamilton (3-6, 0-2 NESCAC) is winless away from Margaret Bundy Scott Field House.
- Bates (6-2, 2-0) has won three of its last four matches.
How It Happened
- The Bobcats jumped out to a 9-3 lead in the first set. Hamilton countered with a six-point rally and evened the score. The Bobcats later used a four-point spurt for a 21-17 cushion, and then closed out the opening set with three kills and a service ace.
- After trailing 9-8 in the second set, the Continentals took an 11-9 lead thanks to kills by Kendall Scholz '27 and Drew Stimson '25, along with a setting error by Bates. Hamilton hung onto their small lead before taking off with eight straight points for a comfortable 21-12 cushion. The Bobcats attempted to climb their way back in but another kill by Scholz gave Hamilton the set victory.
- Leading 9-8 in the third, the Bobcats scored the next six points for a 15-8 advantage. The Continentals got as close as 16-11, but Bates eventually pulled away with the last four points.
- The Continentals fought from behind and narrowed their deficit to one point at 16-15 in the fourth set. Hamilton gave away the next point but countered with three in a row for an 18-17 lead. A kill by Elodie McGeiver '27 and a service error gave Hamilton a 20-18 advantage. The Bobcats clinched the match with the next seven points.
Notes
- McGeiver led Hamilton with 11 kills and added 11 digs for her fifth double-double this season. She is third in the NESCAC with 3.33 kills per set.
- Scholz contributed eight kills.
- Caitlin Allen '27 stuffed a season-high five blocks.
- Ayzlinn Trefren '28 chipped in a team-best 17 digs.
- Pati Cerda '26 paced the Continentals with 24 assists and a career-best five service aces.
- Evans finished with 20 kills and 21 digs for the Bobcats.
- Skye Higashihara handed out a team-high 51 assists and served four aces.
- Sami Kim led Bates with 23 digs.
- Julia Neumann had four blocks for the Bobcats.
