MEDFORD, Mass.
– Tufts University's Claire Castor tallied 20 kills and the Jumbos defeated the Hamilton College Continentals in three straight sets (25-10, 25-20, 25-17) inside Tufts' Cousens Gymnasium on Friday, Sept. 20.
Season Update
- Hamilton (3-5, 0-1 NESCAC) was playing its 2024 conference opener.
- Tufts (4-5, 1-0) snapped its losing skid at three matches.
How It Happened
- Tufts scored the first 16 points of the opening set and led the rest of the way. The Jumbos boasted a .393 hitting percentage with 15 kills on 28 attempts.
- Elodie McGeiver '27 smashed a kill to give Hamilton a 7-3 advantage in the second set, and the Continentals scored the next five points for a 12-3 cushion. Hamilton led by as many as 10 points at 15-5. Tufts inched its way back with a five-point spurt and cut its deficit in half. Trailing by just three points at 18-15, the Jumbos rallied with nine consecutive points for a 24-18 lead.
- A kill by Caitlin Allen '27 and a Tufts error put the Continentals up 7-5 in the third set. The Jumbos claimed the next nine points for a 14-7 advantage, and led by at least six the rest of the way as they clinched the sweep.

- McGeiver led Hamilton with seven kills.
- Allen registered a .455 hitting percentage with six kills on 11 attempts and just one error. She added a team-best four blocks.
- Pati Cerda '26 paced the Continentals with 18 assists.
- Mia Jessen '28 tallied a team-high 11 digs.
- Kendall Scholz '27 and Ayzlinn Trefren '28 chipped in 10 digs apiece.
- Julia Griffiths stuffed a match-high six blocks for the Jumbos.
- Emma Heckman finished with 10 kills and three blocks.
- Rianna Liu led the Jumbos with 27 assists, 21 digs and three aces.

The Continentals travel to Lewiston, Maine, for another NESCAC matchup at Bates College (5-2, 1-0) on Saturday, Sept. 21 at 2 p.m.
