Women’s soccer blanks Oswego State in home opener

Ledbury ’26 and Cramer ’28 scored goals, Tonna ’26 and Connolly ’27 combined on the shutout

CLINTON, N.Y. – Hamilton College's Haley Cramer '28 netted a pair of goals and the Continentals posted a 3-0 non-conference shutout win against the Oswego State Lakers at Hamilton's Love Field on Tuesday, Sept. 10.

Season Update
  • Hamilton (1-1-1 overall) picked up its first win of the 2024 campaign. The Continentals were playing their home opener.
  • Oswego State, which is a member of the State University of New York Athletic Conference (SUNYAC) moved to 3-2-0 overall.
How It Happened
  • Hamilton made its presence known on the pitch with three early shot attempts. The Continentals kept knocking and opened the scoring in the 14th minute on a goal by Maddie Ledbury '26 assisted by Olivia Zubarik '25. The Continentals reclaimed possession around midfield, Zubarik took advantage of the room she was given and pushed the ball down the right side of the field. The senior captain cut to the middle and lined a gorgeous pass to the right side of the box to Ledbury, who slung a high shot into the top-left corner.
  • Cramer gave Hamilton a two-goal cushion with 18:24 left in the opening half. Helena Crate '28 knocked down an Oswego goal kick and quickly passed it over to Cramer. Cramer took it into the box and fed Ledbury in the lower-left corner. Ledbury squeezed off a pass off two defenders and Cramer claimed the seconds as she settled a shot into the lower-right corner.
  • After a series of corner kicks, Cramer added the Continentals' third and final goal with 2:22 remaining in the second half. Lauren Hanna '25 sent in a high corner kick to the box, missing everyone but Cramer, who stepped in front of her defender and headed it into the back of the net.
  • The Continentals outshot the Lakers 24-6 with 11 on net.
  • Hamilton owned a dominating 14-5 advantage on corner kicks.
