CLINTON, N.Y. – Hamilton College's
Thomas Healy '26 tied a career high with five goals and added three assists for a career-best eight points in the Continentals' 10-4 NESCAC win over the Middlebury College Panthers at Hamilton's breezy and rain-soaked Withiam Field on Tuesday, April 2.
Season Update
- The Continentals (6-3, 3-3 NESCAC), who are receiving votes in the U.S. Intercollegiate Lacrosse Association Division III Top 20 coaches poll, won for the fourth time in their last five games. Hamilton has two victories against ranked teams.
- Nationally ranked No. 18 Middlebury (5-5, 4-2) came into the day with a three-game win streak.
How It Happened
- After falling behind 2-1 just 15 seconds into the second quarter, the Continentals ran off eight straight goals for a commanding 9-2 advantage with 5:31 left in the third.
- Healy either scored or had the assist on every goal during the eight-goal run.
- Hamilton held the Panthers without a goal for more than 26 minutes, and Middlebury scored twice in the last 44.
- Healy tied the score with 9:31 remaining in the second quarter. The Panthers called a timeout with 9:41 to go and Healy took possession coming out of the stoppage. He drove around the left side of the goal, turned and charged towards the crease, and found the back of the net from point-blank range.
- Frank Coyle '26 put the Continentals in the lead for good exactly two minutes later. Christian Byrne '24 passed to Healy and he moved behind the goal. Coyle cut towards the goal, caught a pass from Healy and put a shot past the goalie all in one motion.
- Hamilton led 5-2 at the half and 9-3 after three quarters.
Notes
- Healy is tied for fifth in the conference with 4.00 points per game. He leads the Continentals with 36 points on 20 goals and 16 assists. Healy also scooped up a career high seven ground balls.
- Jack Fried '25 tied a season high with 22 saves. Fried made seven stops in the first quarter alone.
- Jesse Delinsky '26 scored two goals for the third time in the last four games.
- After he was held scoreless for the first time this season by Bowdoin College on March 30, Coyle came back with a goal and an assist.
- Troy Pollock '25 scored a goal for the third consecutive game and has five this season.
- Ben Ryan '26 scored in his first game since 2023.
- Reece Hickey '26 won eight faceoffs and picked up eight ground balls.
- Middlebury's William Ryan registered a goal, an assist and six ground balls. Russell Thorndike chipped in a goal and an assist.
- Billy Curtis collected six ground balls and Henry Tarr caused three turnovers. William Munroe won 10 of 18 faceoffs and grabbed six ground balls. Hayden Kern turned away 13 shots.
- The Panthers' ride gave Hamilton some trouble early as the Continentals were successful on 2 of 6 clear attempts in the first quarter. Hamilton eventually figured it out and was 10 of 10 on clear attempts in the second and third quarters.
