Men's lacrosse tripped up by Wesleyan, Delinsky '26 gets 3 points

Continentals honored their nine seniors before the game

MIDDLETOWN, Conn. – Wesleyan University scored eight of the first nine goals and the Cardinals went on to a 17-7 NESCAC win against the Hamilton College Continentals at Hamilton's raw and blustery Steuben Field on Saturday, April 13.
 

Season Update

  • The Continentals (6-6, 3-6 NESCAC) is in eighth place in the conference standings with one NESCAC game remaining. The top eight teams in the standings advance to the NESCAC championship quarterfinals.
  • No. 10 Wesleyan (9-3, 6-2) allowed a season-low seven goals.
 

How It Happened

  • The Cardinals scored twice in the first two minutes and led the whole way.
  • After Thomas Healy '26 cut Hamilton's deficit in half with 10:32 left in the first quarter, Wesleyan ran off the next six goals for an 8-1 advantage 2:41 into the second quarter.
  • The Continentals didn't get closer than five goals the rest of the afternoon.
  • The Cardinals led 6-1 at the end of the first and 12-4 at the half. Neither team scored in the third quarter.
 

Notes

  • Jesse Delinsky '26 paced the Hamilton offense with three points on two goals and an assist. The last time Delinsky had as many as three points in a game was March 15 against Tufts University. He also scooped up a career-high five ground balls.
  • Justin Pearl '25 scored twice and has six goals in the last three games.
  • Healy tallied his team-leading 25th goal.
  • Ben Ryan '26 notched his second goal in the third game he played this season.
  • Johnny Oblak '24 scored his third career goal.
  • Christian Byrne '24, Will Heher '25 and Nathanial Field '24 collected assists.
  • Field has five in five games this year, and Byrne is second on the team with 14.
  • Heher is second on the team with 30 points and has at least one in every game except one.
  • Jack Fried '25 made seven of his 15 saves in the third quarter.
  • CK Giancola led Wesleyan with six points on five goals and an assist. Ben Burns registered three goals, six ground balls and three caused turnovers. Joe Hurton collected six ground balls, Tyler Campbell won 10 of 15 faceoffs and Conor Selfridge stopped 12 shots in 55-plus minutes.
  • The Continentals honored Oblak, Byrne, Field, Zach Perotto '24, Kyle Mannherz '24, Michael Scoleri '24, Tim Murray '24, Carter Hampson '24 and Nick Taylor '25 during a Senior Day ceremony before the game.
 

Next Game

Hamilton hosts SUNY Oneonta for a non-conference contest on Tuesday, April 16 at 7 p.m. It's the last home game this season for the Continentals.
