No. 21 women’s lacrosse drops NESCAC road game at Bowdoin

Lane ’24 had nine ground balls, five caused turnovers and six draw controls for the Continentals

BRUNSWICK, Maine – Bowdoin College's Molly Reed tallied six goals and the Polar Bears posted a 15-9 NESCAC win against the Hamilton College Continentals at Bowdoin's Ryan Field on Saturday, March 30. 
 
Season Update
  • Nationally ranked No. 21 Hamilton (3-4, 2-3 NESCAC) has dropped its last four contests. 
  • Bowdoin (6-3, 2-3) received votes in this week's Intercollegiate Women's Lacrosse Coaches Association Division III Top 25 poll. 
How It Happened
  • Reed scored two of Bowdoin's first three goals and the Polar Bears owned a 3-0 lead with 3:19 remaining in the first quarter. 
  • Maddigan Leifer '26 connected on a feed from Sarah Stonestreet '25 and put Hamilton on the board with 1:09 left in the first. 
  • Alex Orlando '25 scored an unassisted goal 2:11 into the second quarter and Kristin Vosswinkel '27 evened the score with another unassisted goal with 10:15 left to play in the first half. 
  • The Polar Bears re-claimed the lead with 7:06 to go, but Alana King '24 countered with an unassisted goal with 3:11 remaining in the quarter. 
  • Bowdoin took off on a 7-0 run for an 11-4 cushion with 3:32 left in the third. 
  • Stonestreet answered with a goal just 1:14 later, Aine Cleary '25 scored with one second on the clock and Hamilton trailed 11-6 heading into the final quarter. 
  • The Polar Bears outscored the Continentals 4-3 in the fourth for the final margin.  
Notes
  • Stonestreet led Hamilton with three points on two goals and an assist. 
  • Cleary registered her fourth multi-goal game of the season. She scooped up three ground balls and had three draw controls. 
  • Julia Lee '27 scored her 13th goal of the season and passed out her first collegiate assist. 
  • Leifer scored her seventh goal of the season. 
  • Orlando, King and Vosswinkel tallied their third goals of the season. 
  • Meghan Lane '24 paced the Continentals with a career-high nine ground balls, caused a season-best five turnovers and won six draws. 
  • Kaitlin Reed '24 started in goal and made three saves in 51-plus minutes. 
  • Eliza Schwarz '27 made two saves in 8:58 of relief in her first collegiate appearance. 
  • Reed led Bowdoin with six goals and added four ground balls and four draw controls. 
  • Lauren Burke poured in five goals and an assist for the Polar Bears. 
  • Emelia Krakora added two goals and an assist. 
  • Annie Bermingham and Maddie Mrva contributed one goal apiece. 
  • Izzy Cisneros stopped 11 shots including five in the second quarter for Bowdoin.
Next Game
Hamilton hosts Trinity College (5-3, 2-2) for another NESCAC matchup on Saturday, April 6 at noon.
