GREENSBORO, N.C. – Hamilton College's
Jade Matthias '26 finished in 16
th place overall and eighth in the women's 100-yard backstroke consolation final on the third day of the 2024 NCAA Division III Swimming and Diving Championships inside the Greensboro Aquatic Center on Friday, March 22.
Matthias, who collected one team point, posted a time of 56.65 seconds in the evening's consolation final. She was in fourth place in 27.19 seconds after the first 50 yards but dropped to eighth with a split of 29.46 seconds in the last 50.
Matthias posted the 15
th-fastest time out of 42 swimmers and qualified for the consolation final with a time of 56.57 seconds in the morning's time trials. Her performance was just seven one-hundredths of a second off her personal record of 56.50 that she set during a time trial at February's NESCAC championships.
Matthias and Nathaniel Taft '27 compete in the 100 freestyle on the fourth and final day of the championships on Saturday, March 23. Matthias will be in lane four in the second heat while Taft will be in lane five in the sixth and last men's heat. The men's time trials begin at 10 a.m. and the women's starts at approximately 10:09.
