Men's lacrosse evens NESCAC record at 2-2 with win at Colby

The Continentals pulled away to a six -goal lead with big second and third quarters

WATERVILLE, Maine – Hamilton College dominated the second and third quarters and the Continentals posted a 13-10 NESCAC win over the Colby College Mules at Colby's Seaverns Field on Friday, March 22.
 

Season Update

  • Hamilton (4-2, 2-2 NESCAC) won its first two games, lost its next two and has recorded victories in its last two. The Continentals received votes in this week's U.S. Intercollegiate Lacrosse Association Division III Top 20 poll.
  • The Mules (3-3, 1-3) gave up their most goals since the season opener.
 

How It Happened

  • The score was tied at 2-2 after one quarter but Hamilton scored seven of the next eight goals for a 9-3 lead early in the third quarter.
  • Jesse Delinsky '26 put the Continentals up for good 1:50 into the second quarter. Delinsky drove from the right side, made several moves to lose his defender, and fired an underhand shot from 10 yards out.
  • Delinsky made it 4-2 with 8:29 left in the second. He came in from the right side, used a pick and drove down the middle. Delinsky shot on the run from about 20 feet away and the ball settled into the back of the net.
  • Hamilton led 7-3 at the half and 10-4 with 15 minutes remaining. Colby made a push in the fourth quarter with six goals but didn't get closer than three in the final two minutes.
 

Notes

  • The Continentals extended their win streak against the Mules to four games.
  • Frank Coyle '26 led the offense with four points on two goals and two assists. Coyle has multiple points in five out of six games.
  • Will Heher '25 scored three goals on three shots. Heher leads the team with 16 goals and 20 points.
  • Justin Pearl '25 and Thomas Healy '26 chipped in two goals and an assist apiece. Pearl has two or more points in five of six games this season. Healy tops the team with 10 helpers.
  • Delinsky had the two goals and added three ground balls and a caused turnover.
  • Christian Byrne '24 and Milo Trabulsy '25 tallied one goal apiece. Byrne has scored a goal in five straight games. Trabulsy, who entered the season with one career point, has five (4 goals, 1 assist) in 2024.
  • Johnny Oblak '24 picked up his first career assist.
  • Ben Keppler '26 made his second consecutive start in goal and stopped 13 shots.
  • Michael Scoleri '24 won 9 of 13 faceoffs while Reece Hickey '26 won four and scooped up four ground balls.
  • Bennett Goller and Doug McCarthy paced the Colby offense with two goals and an assist apiece. Justin Turley won 13 of 27 faceoffs and collected four ground balls. Will Heisler turned away 11 shots.
  • Hamilton scored on two of three extra-man opportunities. The Continentals have converted 73.7 percent of their chances this season.

Hamilton hosts Massachusetts Institute of Technology (2-4) for a non-conference contest on Wednesday, March 27 at 6 p.m. on Withiam Field.
