No. 23 women's lacrosse takes first loss this season

No. 3 Tufts scored on all 12 of their shots in the first quarter en route to 21-9 win

CLINTON, N.Y. – The Tufts University Jumbos scored the first 12 goals and went on to a 21-9 NESCAC win against the Hamilton College Continentals in a clash of undefeated teams at Hamilton's Steuben Field on Saturday, March 16.
 

Season Update

  • The 23rd-ranked Continentals (3-1, 2-1 NESCAC) had allowed 19 goals in their first three contests.
  • Nationally ranked No. 3 Tufts (6-0, 3-0) has scored at least 17 goals in every game this season.
 

How It Happened

  • The Jumbos scored a woman-up goal 60 seconds into the first quarter and never looked back. Tufts led 12-0 after the opening 15 minutes and 16-2 at the half.
  • The Jumbos advantage grew to as many as 16 goals at 18-2 early in the third quarter, and they led 19-5 through three.
  • The teams played with a running clock for the last 48 minutes.
 

Notes

  • Julia Lee '27 scored three goals for Hamilton and leads the team with nine.
  • Meghan Lane '24, the Continentals' all-America defender, scored two goals, assisted on another, won five draws and caused two turnovers. Lane's three points are a career high.
  • Sarah Stonestreet '25 scored a goal for the third straight game.
  • Aine Cleary '25 notched one goal and leads Hamilton with 10 points.
  • Maddigan Leifer '26 tallied her fifth goal this season.
  • Avery Trach '27 has scored at least one goal in every game.
  • Eugenia Kaltsas '26 picked up her first career assist for the Continentals.
  • Kaitlin Reed '24 made three saves in the second half.
  • Margie Carden had four goals and two assists for Tufts, and Ella Lesperance added three goals and three helpers.
  • Emma Joyce registered four goals and an assist, and Allie Zorn contributed three goals and two assists.
  • Emily Leschin won a game-high seven draw controls and Genna Gibbons claimed five. The Jumbos finished with a 21-10 advantage on the draw.
  • Pascale de Buren started in goal and stopped three shots in the first half. Sophie Powless turned away six shots in the second half.
  • Tufts scored on all 12 of its shots in the first quarter. The Jumbos converted all four of their free-position shots.
