Softball drops two, Mayer ’26 maintains impressive start

Continentals look to bounce back against Luther and Smith on Sunday

LEESBURG, Fla. – The Hamilton College Continentals dropped two non-conference contests against Macalester College (5-0) and Haverford College (4-0) at Sleepy Hollow Sports Complex on Thursday, March 14.
 
Season Update
  • Hamilton (4-4 overall) will be back in action with two more non-conference contests against Luther College and Smith College on Sunday, March 17 at 1:30 and 4 p.m. at Legends Way in Clermont, Fla. 

Macalester

 
How It Happened
  • Macalester plated its first two runs in the top of the third on two singles and an error. 
  • The Scots added another run in the fourth powered by a leadoff double by Alli Johnson. 
  • Macalester extended its lead with another run in the fifth and plated its final run in the top of the seventh on two hits and an error.  
Notes
  • Macalester, which is a member of the Minnesota Intercollegiate Athletic Conference, improved to 9-4 overall. 
  • Renee Nicholson led the Scots with two hits. 
  • Elizabeth Welch plated one run on her double. 
  • Tess Bojorquez threw a three-hit shutout and fanned five batters 
  • Emma Tansky '25, Alexis Mayer '26 and Natalie Beebe '24 tallied one hit each. 
  • Beebe allowed just one earned run on five hits and struck out three in four innings pitched.  

Haverford

 
How It Happened
  • Haverford struck in the bottom of the third with two runs on two hits and an error. 
  • The Fords added one run in the fourth and another in the fifth on four total hits. 
Notes
  • Haverford (3-5) is a member of the Centennial Conference. 
  • Mayer had Hamilton's lone hit with her first double of the season. She boasts a .400 batting average and leads the team with 10 hits.  
  • Sarah Fan recorded three of Haverford's nine hits. 
  • Tessa Pearlstei registered one double and a single. 
  • Kyra Van Denburgh, Jocelyn Leal, Abby Litchfield and Maddie Etheridge tallied one hit each. 
  • Kaleigh Bodak pitched a one-hit shutout with one walk and two strikeouts.
