NEW LONDON, Conn. – Connecticut College's David Murray and Elias Espinosa combined to score half the Camels' points in their 94-77 NESCAC win against the Hamilton College Continentals inside Conn. College's Luce Field House on Sunday, Feb. 4.
Season Update
- Hamilton (10-12, 3-5 NESCAC) has dropped its last four conference games, including two in overtime.
- The Camels (17-5, 7-1) have won five straight – all by double-digit margins.
How It Happened
- The Continentals were hampered by a number of early turnovers and missed layups. Teja Singh '25 gave Hamilton its only lead at 3-2 on a 3-pointer. Conn. College went on a 10-3 run and led the rest of the way. The last time the Continentals were within one possession was at 7-6 after a Garret Keyhani '26 trifecta.
- The Camels took their first double-digit lead at 21-11 on an old-fashioned, 3-point play by Murray with 9:44 left in the first half. A 3-pointer by Espinosa on Conn. College's next possession gave the Camels their largest advantage in the first half at 13 points. Conn. College led 39-29 at the break.
- Hamilton finished the opening half with an incredible 17 offensive rebounds, but the Continentals shot just 27 percent (10-37) from the floor and committed six turnovers. Murray and Espinosa scored 27 of the Camels' 39 points.
- Hamilton pulled within eight points twice early in the second half but didn't get any closer. A 3-pointer by RJ Casey put Conn. College up by 20-plus points for the first time at 69-48 with 8:14 remaining, and the Camels built their largest lead of the afternoon on their next possession when Cam Schainfeld made two free throws.
- Both teams shot better than 50 percent from the field in the second half as the Continentals finished at 51.4 percent (18-35) and Conn. College was even better at 58.6 percent (17-29). The Camels also made 17 free throws in the last 20 minutes alone.
Notes
- Keyhani paced Hamilton with 22 points and eight rebounds. He has six 20-point games against NESCAC opponents.
- Singh chipped in 16 points and is averaging 14.7 per game.
- Hank Morgan '25, who is second in the conference in scoring at 18.2 per game, was held to nine points. Morgan did hand out a career-high six assists and added two steals.
- Matthew Rideout '27 registered eight points off the bench.
- Murray led all scorers with 24 points.
- Espinosa was instant offense off the bench as he was 9 of 12 from the floor with five 3-pointers and ended up with 23 points.
- Schainfeld scored all 13 of his points in the second half and dished out nine assists.
- Jarron Flynn dropped in a dozen points, Ben Rice pulled down 11 boards and Billy Whelan made three steals.
- Conn. College had a 44-28 advantage in points in the paint, while the Continentals had the upper hand in second-chance points, 20-11.
