BRUNSWICK, Maine – Bowdoin College's Patrick Callahan tallied two goals and the Polar Bears posted a 3-2 win against the Hamilton College Continentals inside Bowdoin's Sidney J. Watson Arena on Saturday, Feb. 3.
Season Update
- The Continentals (13-6-1, 8-5-1 NESCAC) are receiving votes in the USCHO.com Division III Top 15 poll.
- Bowdoin (12-4-4, 8-2-4) defeated Hamilton 2-0 on Jan. 6 in the Continentals' Russell Sage Rink.
How It Happened
- Callahan gave the Polar Bears a 1-0 lead on a power-play goal 8:15 into the first period. Bryce Bollman and Gabe Shipper picked up the assists.
- Bowdoin doubled its lead on another power-play goal by Callahan less than two minutes later that was assisted by Shipper and Nate Clark.
- Hamilton split its deficit in half on a rebound goal by Justin Biraben '27 at 2:23 of the second period. Max Bulawka '26 won a faceoff in the attacking zone and passed the puck back to James Philpott '25. Philpott took a shot from the top of the right faceoff circle that bounced off the chest of Bowdoin goaltender Alex Kozic. Biraben controlled the puck right outside the crease and settled it into the back of the net.
- The Polar Bears reclaimed their two-goal cushion with 26 ticks left in the second on a goal by Bollman that was assisted by PJ Neal and Jack Gilligan.
- Hamilton traded goaltender Jack Grant '24 for an extra skater with 2:16 to go in the third period. The Continentals had a man-up opportunity after a Bowdoin penalty that was called with just five seconds remaining. Bulawka gathered another faceoff win, Philpott played the puck off the right-side boards and passed it over to Devon de Vries '27 in the middle of the faceoff circle. With less than two seconds to go, de Vries took advantage of an open look and wristed a shot into the upper-left corner.

- Biraben recorded his fifth goal of the season and his third in two games.
- de Vries registered his sixth goal of the season.
- Bulawka is second on the team with 13 assists. He won 14 of 24 faceoffs.
- Philpott passed out his 11th and 12th assists this season.
- Grant made 10 of his 19 stops in the first period.
- Kozic tallied 17 of his 37 saves in the third period.
- The Polar Bears were 2-for-3 on the power play while Hamilton was 1-for-4.
