MIDDLEBURY, Vt. – Hamilton College's
Jade Matthias '26 broke her own team record in the 50-yard butterfly on the first full day of the 2024 NESCAC Women's Swimming & Diving Championships at the Middlebury College Natatorium on Friday, Feb. 16.
The meet began on Thursday night with the 800 freestyle relay. The Continentals are in eighth place out of 11 teams through the first 10 events. The championships continue on Saturday, Feb. 17 with the preliminary heats at 10 a.m. and the finals at 5:45 p.m. Diving trials start at 2 p.m.
Matthias tied for second place in the 50 fly with a time of 25.00 seconds. She owned the previous record of 25.19 seconds, which Matthias set at last year's championships. She also tied for sixth place in the 50 free in 23.78 seconds.
Matthias was the only Hamilton swimmer in the championship finals on Friday.
Caroline Shen '24 ended up ninth in the 50 backstroke. Shen's time of 26.49 seconds was good enough for first place in the consolation final.
