MIDDLEBURY, VT. – Middlebury College's Kate Flynn scored 1:27 into the sudden-victory overtime period and lifted the Panthers to a 4-3 NESCAC win against the Hamilton College Continentals inside Middlebury's Chip Kenyon '85 Arena on Friday, Feb. 16.
Season Update
- The nationally ranked No. 7 Continentals (13-5-5, 6-5-4 NESCAC) are 2-2-2 in their last six contests. Hamilton has gone to overtime in six of its last eight games.
- No. 8 Middlebury (13-6-3, 10-3-2) picked up its third straight win.

How It Happened
- In overtime, Avery McInerny attempted a shot that rung off the pipe. After a battle in the crease for possession, McInenry controlled the puck around the goal and passed it to Flynn who skated in and had an open look on the far side of the net.
- Claire McGennis '24 put Hamilton on the board 11:24 into the second period. Sophie Berghammer '26 dumped the puck over to Lisa Ito-Bagshaw '25 in the neutral zone and Ito-Bagshaw zipped a pass to the front doorstep through traffic to McGennis, who tipped it up and over Middlebury goaltender Sophia Merageas.
- Hamilton doubled its lead on a rebound goal by Emily Ferguson '24 with 3:22 left in the second period. Zoe Katz '24 raced to keep the puck in the Continentals' attacking zone and dished a pass down to Abby Smith '24 at the top of the left faceoff circle. Smith took a shot from the low slot that deflected off a defender's skate and Ferguson cut in from the right side and slipped the puck past the far post.
- Middlebury sliced its deficit in half 33 ticks into the third period. The Panthers forced a turnover in their offensive zone and McInenry grazed a short pass to Callia Ferraris who slung a hard shot from the center of the left circle that settled into the back of the net.
- The Continentals regained their two-goal cushion less than three minutes later. After a series of Hamilton shot attempts, Bobbi Roca '24 intercepted a pass in the left faceoff circle and immediately fired a wrist shot that flew into the upper-left corner of the net.
- The Panthers countered with another goal 50 seconds later by Jordan Hower and assisted by Flynn and Raia Schluter.
- Middlebury traded Merageas for an extra skater with 1:08 to go and the Panthers evened the score with just 43.3 seconds remaining on a goal by McInerny that was assisted by Kylie Quinlan and Ferraris.
