ROCHESTER, N.Y. – Hamilton College scored 17 straight points midway through the first half and never looked back as the Continentals comfortably defeated the St. John Fisher University Cardinals 70-54 in a non-conference matchup at St. John Fisher's Manning and Napier Varsity Gym on Saturday afternoon, Dec. 7.
Season Update
- Hamilton (7-1 overall) extended its winning streak to six games.
- The Cardinals (2-5), a member of the Empire 8 Athletic Conference, were held to their lowest point total of the season.
How It Happened
- After St. John Fisher jumped out to an early 11-6 lead, the Continentals responded with a 17-0 run that spanned almost 10 minutes.
- Garret Keyhani '26 began the run with two putback layups. Matthew Rideout '27 knocked down a 3-pointer from the right wing for a 13-11 Hamilton lead.
- After a Cardinals turnover, Hank Morgan '25 converted a layup. Will Holmes '27 kept the run going with a layup set up by Rideout's nice entry pass. Rideout then scored on a layup and later a right-wing, pull-up jump shot.
- Morgan fed a cutting Owen Kane '25 for a layup that capped the run and gave Hamilton a 23-11 advantage after Kane was freed up by a Teja Singh '25 screen.
- The Continentals controlled the glass with 11 offensive rebounds in the first half.
- After heading to halftime up 29-20, Hamilton scored the first six points of the second half and led by double digits the rest of the way.
- The Continentals led 47-30 after a Morgan layup at the 13:40 mark.
- Graham Robinson '25 hit a 3-pointer with 6:41 remaining that made the score 65-41 and gave Hamilton its largest lead.
Notes
- Rideout notched 13 points off the bench with 11 coming in the first half.
- Morgan heated up in the second half, scoring 13 of his 15 points. He leads the NESCAC in scoring average at 18.6 points per game. Morgan added six rebounds and two steals.
- Keyhani scored 12 points and recorded five offensive rebounds.
- Robinson went 3-of-4 from 3-point range and finished with nine points.
- Nate Raub '27 recorded a career-high three blocks.
- Jalen Reese '27 pulled down a team-best seven boards.
- The Cardinals' Eric Kegler led all players with 21 points and eight rebounds.
- Connor Williams scored 13 points and recorded five rebounds.
- Hamilton outscored St. John Fisher 38-30 in the paint.
- The Continentals scored 26 bench points to the Cardinals' 17.
- Hamilton shot 60 percent (15-25) from the field, including 4-of-9 from beyond the arc, in the second half.
- The Continentals won for the fourth time in the last five meetings with St. John Fisher.
