CLINTON, N.Y. – Hamilton College's Hank Morgan '25 dropped in a game-high 25 points and the Continentals breezed to an 87-69 non-conference win against the Utica University Pioneers at Hamilton's Coach Tom Murphy Court inside Margaret Bundy Scott Field House on Wednesday evening, Dec. 4.

Season Update

  • The Continentals (6-1 overall) won their fifth straight game.
  • Utica (5-2), which is a member of the Empire 8 Athletic Conference, gave up their season high in points.

How It Happened

  • Hamilton led for all but 33 seconds. The score was tied at 2-2 when the Continentals took the lead for good with an 18-3 run.
  • Graham Robinson '25 started the spurt with an offensive rebound and putback. Robinson followed with a 3-pointer from the right wing and Garret Keyhani '26 dropped the ball into the basket after a pass from Owen Kane '25 for a 9-2 advantage.
  • After a layup by the Pioneers, Morgan drove down the right side of the lane and pulled up at the low block for a right-handed shot off the glass. Teja Singh '25 grabbed a missed 3-pointer and made the layup, which led to a Utica timeout.
  • The Pioneers made a free throw before Singh continued the onslaught. He drove the length of the court, made a layup and was fouled. Singh missed the free throw but ended up with the loose ball and made the layup from the left side of the lane. He finished off a fast break with a trifecta from the right wing for a 20-5 lead with 14:33 left in the first half.
  • Hamilton enjoyed a 20-point cushion at 29-9 after a 3-pointer by Morgan with 11:49 remaining. The Continentals made 12 of their first 17 shots from the floor.
  • Hamilton led by as many as 25 points twice, including 50-25 with 1:20 to go after a free throw by Jack Stowell '27. Utica scored the last five points of the half and went into the break trailing 50-30.
  • The Continentals shot 54 percent (20-37) from the field including 7-of-17 from long range during the opening 20 minutes.
  • Hamilton's lead fluctuated between 13 and 22 points throughout the second half.
