WESTERVILLE, Ohio – Hamilton College's
Taylor Lambo '26 dropped in 20 points and tied a season high with 16 rebounds, and the Continentals cruised to a 71-43 victory against the Albion College Britons in the 2024 Smokey Ballenger Classic inside Otterbein University's Rike Center on Monday, Dec. 30.
Season Update
- Hamilton (9-2 overall) won both of its games at the Smokey Ballenger Classic; the Continentals pulled out an 80-70 win in double overtime against Oberlin College on Dec. 29.
- Albion (3-9), which is a member of the Michigan Intercollegiate Athletic Association, lost its third straight game.
How It Happened
- Kendall Harris '27 nailed a 3-pointer for a 6-2 edge with 6:22 left in the opening quarter.
- Lambo, Annabelle Semeter '28 and Erica Hills '28 combined on a 7-0 run for a 14-6 advantage with 3:21 remaining.
- Lambo closed out the quarter with a layup for a 20-10 lead.
- Hamilton had a strong offensive outing in the second quarter, starting with an early 8-0 spurt for a 32-14 cushion with 5:47 left. Harris ignited the run with a pull-up jumper, Sam Glickman '25 scored back-to-back layups, and Lambo capped the streak with a turnaround jumper.
- The Continentals carried a comfortable 18-point cushion at 39-21 at the break.
- Hamilton opened the third quarter on a 9-3 run for a 48-24 lead with 6:04 to go.
- Semeter gave the Continentals a 26-point lead at 55-29 on a 3-ball with just under two minutes to go.
- Albion scored half of its 16 points in the third in the remaining 1:36, but still trailed by 18 at 55-37 heading into the final 10 minutes.
- The Continentals continued to showcase their dominant offense, outscoring Albion 16-6 in the fourth quarter for the final margin.
Notes
- Lambo was named to the all-tournament team after tallying her seventh double-double of the season and her second in as many days. Lambo leads the NESCAC with 11.6 rebounds per game.
- Harris had a solid performance with 16 points, nine rebounds and a team-best three blocks.
- Semeter chipped in a season-best nine points off the bench, while Glickman finished with seven.
- Abbey Schwoebel '27 recorded six points and six boards.
- Hamilton was 26-of-44 (59.1 percent) on two-point attempts and tallied 21 points off 21 Briton turnovers.
- The Continentals owned a 47-38 advantage on the glass.
- Khaleeya Cook led Albion with 10 points, three assists and two steals off the bench.
- Meghan Trewhella contributed nine points, while Brooklynn Tornes had seven.
- Anja Kelley and Emma Cooke gathered a team-high six rebounds apiece.
- The Britons were held to 28.1 percent (16-57) shooting from the floor, but finished at 41.2 percent (7-17) from the 3-point line.
