NEW PALTZ, N.Y. – Hamilton College's
Kendall Harris '27 scored 17 points and
Althea Hill '26 netted 15 as the Continentals recorded a 75-64 non-conference win against the SUNY New Paltz Hawks inside New Paltz's Hawk Center on Tuesday, Dec. 10.
Season Update
- Hamilton (7-1 overall) picked up its fifth straight win.
- New Paltz, which is 2-0 in the SUNYAC, dipped to 3-4 on the season.
How It Happened
- The Continentals sparked a 10-2 run for a 12-6 lead with 5:53 left in the opening quarter. Hill opened the rally with a 3-ball and Hannah Bernstein '28 capped the spurt with a shot from long distance.
- The Hawks countered with an 11-4 run for a 17-16 lead with 2:32 to go.
- Erica Hills '28 made a layup and Hill buried a 3-pointer for a 21-17 edge at the end of the first.
- Hill remained hot from beyond the arc four seconds into the second frame for a 24-17 lead.
- Harris made a layup and then nailed a jumper that extended the Continentals' lead to 28-17 with 8:49 left.
- The Continentals took off on a 10-0 run for a 17-point cushion at 38-21 with 6:19 to go. Hill contributed five of those 10 points.
- New Paltz cut its deficit to 13 points at 46-33 with 8:01 left in the third quarter.
- Harris locked in at the charity stripe, going 6-for-6 over the next 2:23 for a 52-35 advantage with 5:38 to go.
- The Hawks used a 6-0 run and narrowed Hamilton's lead down to 11 points at 52-41 with 1:37 remaining.
- Hamilton closed out the quarter on a 10-4 spurt for a comfortable 62-45 cushion heading into the last 10 minutes.
- Trailing 71-56, the Hawks mustered an 8-2 run and sliced the Continentals' lead to single digits at 73-64 with 1:20 left.
- The Continentals broke the press and Hills converted a layup off a pass from Taylor Lambo '26 with 40 seconds left for the final margin.
Notes
- Harris went a perfect 10-for-10 at the free-throw line. She finished with 10 rebounds for her third straight double-double and three blocks.
- Hill's point total was a season best and she handed out three assists.
- Lambo tallied 13 points and a team-high 13 rebounds for her fifth double-double this season. She also came away with three steals.
- Bernstein contributed nine points.
- Hills had eight points and a season-best six boards off the bench.
- Hannah Vanderzee led New Paltz with 22 points. She added five rebounds and a team-best four steals.
- Abby Korekwinski registered a double-double for the Hawks with 12 points and 11 boards.
- Sophia Bonnell recorded 10 points, while Julia Sabatino dropped in eight and a team-high six assists.
- The Continentals shot 40.4 percent (21-52) from the floor, 37.5 percent (6-16) from beyond the arc, and 75 percent (27-36) at the line.
- New Paltz finished 36 percent (27-75) from the field and was just 3-of-15 from long range. The Hawks went 7-for-15 at the charity stripe.
- Hamilton owned a 39-34 advantage on the glass.
- The Hawks scored 46 points in the paint to Hamilton's 26.
