Women's hockey explodes for five goals in win at SUNY Morrisville

Continentals have nine straight victories against the Mustangs

MORRISVILLE, N.Y. – Five Hamilton College players scored goals and the Continentals posted a 5-1 non-conference win over the SUNY Morrisville Mustangs inside SUNY Morrisville's IcePlex on Tuesday afternoon, Nov. 26.

Season Update

  • Hamilton (1-4-0 overall) is receiving votes in the USCHO.com Division III Top 15 poll.
  • The Mustangs (5-2-0), who own a 3-2 win against nationally ranked Nazareth University, have a 2-1 record in the SUNYAC.

How It Happened

  • The Continentals grabbed a 1-0 lead at 10:24 of the first period. Defender Cuora Sullivan '26 scored on a high wrist shot from above the right faceoff circle near the blue line.
  • Lilly Truchon '26 made it a two-goal game 9:24 into the second period. Truchon threw the puck towards the net from the goal line below the right faceoff circle and the goaltender couldn't control it. Truchon followed up the loose puck and poked it into the net.
  • Hamilton took a 3-0 lead at 1:28 of the third period. Lisa Ito-Bagshaw '25 stole the puck in the Continentals' attacking zone along the right boards, skated into the low slot and scored on the backhand.
  • Allie Davidson spoiled Hamilton's shutout bid with an unassisted goal exactly five minutes later.
  • The Continentals restored their three-goal cushion at the 9:17 mark. Truchon controlled the loose puck in Hamilton's attacking zone near the end boards. She passed it out in front for a one-timer by Lydia Bullock '26 from the low slot.
  • Grace Puskar '27 sealed the win for the Continentals with 4:09 left. A wrist shot from the point by Ali Joseph '25 hit a player and Puskar got off a backhand shot from the left faceoff circle that didn't get to the crease. She eventually knocked in the rebound from the area between the crease and below the left faceoff circle.

Notes

  • Hamilton's offensive outburst was the big story. The Continentals hadn't scored in their last eight periods, and the last time they had as many as five goals in a game was Jan. 27, 2023, in a 7-1 win against Wesleyan University.
  • Puskar had a goal and an assist and won 9-of-14 faceoffs. The goal was the first of her collegiate career.
  • Truchon picked up her first collegiate assist and her first career multi-point game.
  • Bullock, who had a goal and a helper, recorded her fifth career multi-point contest.
  • Ito-Bagshaw and Sullivan scored for the third time in their careers.
  • Ito-Bagshaw won 12-of-20 faceoffs and Grace Crowley '26 won 10-of-15. The Continentals won 31-of-49 as a team.
  • In her first start since the 2023 NCAA championship semifinal, Hamilton's Evie Sheridan '26 made 13 saves.
  • The Continentals held a commanding 40-14 shot advantage.
  • Hamilton extended its win streak against Morrisville to nine games.
  • Mustangs' starting goaltender J'Anne Colbow stopped 22 shots. Elizabeth Timby relieved Colbow midway through the second period and recorded 13 saves.
