PARKLAND, Wash. – Hamilton College's
Hank Morgan '25 made a layup with 1.1 seconds left in the second half and lifted the Continentals to a 60-58 non-conference win against the Pacific Lutheran University Lutes inside Pacific Lutheran's Olson Auditorium on Monday night, Nov. 25.
Season Update
- Hamilton (4-1 overall) extended its win streak to three games.
- The Lutes (1-3), who are members of the Northwest Conference, dropped their third straight.
How It Happened
- Julian Brown's basket in the paint pulled Pacific Lutheran even at 58-58, and the Continentals hurried the ball into the frontcourt where they called a timeout with 2.9 seconds remaining.
- Jalen Reese '27 inbounded the ball and threw a perfect lob pass to Morgan cutting to the basket. He caught it at the low block on the right-hand side of the lane, turned and put a shot off the glass and in for the two-point lead.
- The Lutes' long inbounds pass was deflected near the opposite free-throw line to a Pacific Lutheran player who banked in a 3-pointer off the backboard, but he released the ball after the final horn had already sounded.
- Hamilton led 28-25 at the break and there were six ties and four lead changes in the second half. The Lutes took their last lead at 33-31 on a dunk by Brandin Riedel early in the second half.
- The Continentals snapped a 39-39 tie midway through the second with a 12-4 run. Teja Singh '25 had two baskets during the spurt including a layup that gave Hamilton its largest lead of eight points at 51-43. Singh, who is from nearby Seattle, was playing in front of a large group of family and friends.
- Singh had briefly given the Continentals a late 58-56 edge on a drive down the left side of the lane that resulted in a layup with 14.1 seconds to go.
- Pacific Lutheran scored the game's first six points and led for most of the first half. The Lutes held a six-point advantage on four occasions including 20-14 midway through the half.
- Hamilton took its first lead after a 9-1 run as Pacific Lutheran went five minutes without a field goal. A jumper by Singh and a rare four-point play by Matthew Rideout '27 tied the score at 20-20. After a Riedel free throw, Morgan nailed a 3-pointer that gave the Continentals a 23-21 edge.
- Connor Jenkins '27 made a trifecta late in the half and gave Hamilton its 28-25 advantage.
Notes
- Morgan finished with a game-high 20 points and grabbed nine rebounds, including five on the offensive glass. The NESCAC player of the week has made the winning basket in the closing seconds of the Continentals' last two victories.

- In addition to the assist on the winning bucket, Reese pulled down a career-high 11 boards and tied a career best with three blocked shots.

- Dom Perasso chipped in 10 points and Miles Nash handed out a game-high five assists.
