Women's basketball bested by Brockport on the road, 78-71

Lambo '26 and Harris '27 combined to score 45 points for the Continentals

BROCKPORT, N.Y. – SUNY Brockport went on a 9-1 run in the last two minutes and the Golden Eagles pulled out a 78-71 non-conference win against the Hamilton College Continentals inside Brockport's Jim and John Vlogianitis Gym on Tuesday night, Nov. 19.
 

Season Update

  • Hamilton (2-1 overall) was playing its third game in five days.
  • The Golden Eagles (3-1), who are members of the Empire 8 Athletic Conference, have scored at least 78 points in all three of their wins.
 

How It Happened

  • Kendall Harris '27 hit a pull-up jumper from the left wing for the Continentals' last lead of 70-69 with 2:18 left.
  • Kaileigh Hunt's layup put Brockport in front for good at 71-70 with 1:49 remaining. A Hunt free throw and jumper in the paint by Stephanie Jean-Baptiste made it 74-70 with 26 seconds to go. After a free throw by Hamilton's Hannah Bernstein '28 with 16 seconds left, Jean-Baptiste and Hunt sealed the victory with two free throws apiece in the final 14 seconds.
  • The Golden Eagles led by as many as 14 points in the first quarter and ended up with a 27-15 advantage after the opening 10 minutes. Brockport was 12-of-18 on two-point shot attempts in the first.
  • The Continentals made nine baskets, scored 24 points and roared back in the second quarter. Four free throws by Abbey Schwoebel '27 put Hamilton up 35-33 late in the quarter, and the Continentals took a 39-37 edge into the break.
  • Neither team led by more than four points in the third quarter, and the Golden Eagles owned a 55-53 lead with 10 minutes remaining.
  • Brockport stayed in front for most of the fourth quarter and went up by six at 62-56 with 7:34 to go. Two free throws by Taylor Lambo '26 gave Hamilton its first lead of the quarter at 68-67 with 2:45 left.
 

Notes

  • Lambo paced the Continentals with 24 points and nine rebounds, including six offensive boards, before she fouled out with 1:02 remaining. It was Lambo's highest point total since Nov. 10, 2023, when she had 26 against Utica University.
  • Harris chipped in 21 points, eight rebounds and two blocked shots. Harris and Lambo combined to go 15-of-26 from the field.
  • Bernstein handed out a game-high five assists and pulled down nine boards.
  • Hunt led the Golden Eagles with 17 points and nine rebounds.
  • Peyton Maneri contributed 15 points and four steals.
  • Claire Turner had three blocked shots and eight boards in just 10 minutes off the bench.
  • Brockport scored 23 points off 24 Hamilton turnovers.
  • The Continentals shot better than 50 percent (21-41) on two-point attempts, but were just 1-of-23 from beyond the arc.
  • The Golden Eagles also struggled from the floor as they shot 34.6 percent (27-78) including 3-of-21 from 3-point range. Brockport redeemed itself at the free-throw line with an 80.8 percent (21-26) performance.
