CHESTER, Pa. – Stockton University's EJ Matthews-Spratley scored 22 points off the bench and the Ospreys defeated the Hamilton College Continentals 84-71 in the championship game of Widener University's Tip-Off for Autism Awareness Tournament inside Schwartz Center on Saturday, Nov. 16.
Season Update
- Hamilton (1-1 overall) reached the title game with an 81-54 win against the hosts on Friday night.
- Stockton (2-0), which is a member of the New Jersey Athletic Conference, received votes in the D3hoops.com Top 25 preseason poll.
How It Happened
- Neither team led by more than five points for the first 14 minutes.
- Jack Stowell '27 gave the Continentals their last lead at 18-17 on a free throw with 11:13 left in the first half.
- The Ospreys went ahead for good with an 18-3 run that covered the next seven minutes. A fast-break layup by Martin Anguelov made it 35-21 with 4:35 remaining.
- Hamilton didn't get closer than eight points the rest of the way. Stockton led 49-33 at the half and by as many as 22 points at 82-60 with 4:07 to go.
Notes
- Hank Morgan '25, who was named to the all-tournament team, paced the Continentals with 21 points.
- Connor Jenkins '27 drained five 3-pointers and finished with a career-high 19 points in 21 minutes off the bench.
- Matthew Rideout '27 handed out a career-best six assists.
- Jalen Reese '27 topped Hamilton in rebounds with six.
- Christian Armstrong-Thomas chipped in nine points, 10 boards and four steals for the Ospreys.
- Jamar Johnson passed out six assists in 20 minutes off the bench.
- Stockton had 22 points off turnovers and 19 fast-break points in the first half.
- The Continentals shot 26.3 percent (10-38) from beyond the arc.
- The Ospreys went 16-for-18 at the free-throw line in the first half.
