Men’s basketball rolls past SUNY Geneseo, Morgan ’25 scores 24

Morgan ’25 and Singh ’25 combined for 47 points for the Continentals

CLINTON, N.Y. – Hamilton College's Hank Morgan '25 poured in a game-high 24 points and Teja Singh '25 scored 23 as the Continentals breezed by the SUNY Geneseo Knights, 93-76, on Hamilton's Coach Tom Murphy Court inside Margaret Bundy Scott Field House on Tuesday, Nov. 19. 
 

Season Update

  • Hamilton (2-1 overall) was playing its home opener. 
  • Geneseo, a member of the Empire 8 Athletic Conference, moved to 1-2 overall. 

How It Happened

  • Singh hit his first 3-ball of the night and evened the score at 9-9 with 16:01 to go in the first half. 
  • The Knights countered with back-to-back baskets for a 13-9 advantage. 
  • Hamilton went on an 8-0 run, thanks to a 3-pointer and a jumper by Singh and a mid-range jumper by Morgan for a 20-17 edge with 12:12 left. 
  • Geneseo's Colin Gentile knotted the score at 27-27 and the Knights finished an 8-0 spurt for their largest lead of five points at 32-27 with 5:50 remaining. 
  • The Continentals countered with the next 11 points and regained the lead at 38-32 with 3:09 to go. 
  • Morgan drained a shot from distance and Rob Cain '28 scored a layup for Hamilton's first double-digit lead at 48-38 with 46 seconds left. 
  • Josh Garelle made a layup in the final seconds and cut Geneseo's deficit to eight points (48-40) at the break. 
  • After trading the first couple baskets of the second stanza, Hamilton's offense got hot with a 13-0 run for a comfortable 21-point cushion (64-43) with 14:06 remaining. Six of those 13 points came from Garret Keyhani '26. 
  • Singh buried a 3-pointer and Connor Jenkins '27 knocked down two more for an 81-59 advantage with just under nine minutes left. Keyhani, Graham Robinson '25, Morgan and Nate Raub '27 all scored during the run. 
  • The Knights were able to narrow their deficit to 15 points at 81-66 with 5:56 to go, but the Continentals shut down any chance of a comeback after Singh, Morgan, Keyhani and Will Holmes '27 combined for the next nine points for Hamilton's largest lead of 24 at 90-66 with 4:15 remaining.  
  • Max Freishtat '26 hit a free throw with 54 ticks left for the final margin. 
  • Hamilton shot 53 percent (35-66) from the floor, including 36.8 percent (14-38) from long range, and went 9-for-10 at the free-throw line. 
  • Geneseo shot 51.8 percent (29-56) from the field, including 43.8 percent (7-16) from beyond the arc, and went 11-for-18 at the charity stripe. 
  • Hamilton held a 39-24 advantage on the glass. 
  • The Continentals earned 21 second-chance points to the Knights' seven.  

Notes

  • Morgan shot 73 percent (8-11) from the floor, including 4-of-7 from 3-point range. He added three assists, three offensive boards and two steals. 
  • Singh went 5-of-8 from beyond the arc. 
  • Keyhani chipped in a season-best 13 points.
  • Jenkins contributed nine points off the bench.  
  • Robinson added seven points and three rebounds.
  • Raub had six points and five defensive boards. 
  • Sharif Nelson '26 handed out a team-best four assists and had three steals. 
  • Holmes registered four points, four boards and two blocks. 
  • Owen Kane '25 tallied five rebounds, two assists, two steals and one block. 
  • All active Continentals saw action.  
  • Michael Gentile paced Geneseo with 14 points.
  • Garelle finished with 12 points for the Knights.
  • Robert Perocolosi chipped in 10 points and a team-high six rebounds.
  • Trevor Hofer added 11 points and three steals off the bench. 
  • Andrew Morrow had 10 points while Sebastian Pacheco contributed nine points, a team-best four assists and a game-high five steals. 

Next Game

Hamilton travels to local opponent SUNY Polytechnic (1-1) for a non-conference contest on Thursday, Nov. 21 at 7 p.m.
