CHESTER, Pa. – Hamilton College's
Hank Morgan '25 scored his 1,000
th career point and the Continentals cruised to an 81-54 win against the Widener University Pride in Widener's Tip-Off for Autism Awareness Tournament inside Schwartz Center on Friday, Nov. 15.
Season Update
- Hamilton was playing in its season opener.
- The Pride (0-2 overall), who are members of the Middle Atlantic Conference Commonwealth, received votes in the D3hoops.com Top 25 preseason poll.
How It Happened
- Neither team led by more than five points in the first 13 minutes.
- A layup by Kevin Schenk gave Widener its last lead of the night at 16-15 with 9:43 left in the first half.
- The Continentals went on a 20-4 run during the next seven minutes and led by double digits the rest of the way.
- An offensive rebound and putback by Teja Singh '25 gave Hamilton the lead for good at 17-16. Matthew Rideout '27 made a three-pointer and his steal led to a fast-break layup by Morgan. Will Holmes '27 dunked, Singh scored in the paint again and found Morgan for another slam. Singh and Morgan followed with layups, and Singh drained a shot from beyond the arc for a 35-20 advantage with 3:06 remaining.
- The Continentals led 42-25 at the break.
- Hamilton took its first lead of 20 or more points at 50-29 on a trifecta by Rideout 2:30 into the second half.
- The Continentals enjoyed a 31-point cushion at 80-49 with 1:09 to go after Jalen Reese '27 stole the ball at one end and dunked it at the other.
Notes
- Morgan finished with 15 points and seven rebounds and tied a career high with five steals. Morgan, who has 1,011 points, is the 36th player in team history to reach the 1,000-point milestone.
- Rideout nailed three 3-pointers and ended up with 14 points.
- Singh chipped in 10 points.
- Garret Keyhani '26 contributed eight points and a game-high nine rebounds.
- Matt Daulerio paced the Pride with 14 points and two blocked shots.
- Widener's 17 turnovers led to 21 Hamilton points.
- The Continentals grabbed 16 offensive boards and boasted a 51-32 advantage on the glass.
- Hamilton helped limit the Pride to 34 percent (18-53) shooting from the field. Widener was just 15-for-27 (55.6 percent) at the free-throw line.
- This was the first meeting between the teams since November 2013 when the Pride defeated the Continentals 89-83 in overtime in the Hamilton Invitational Tournament.
