Women’s soccer blanks Bates 5-0, Zubarik ’25 scores twice

Four Continentals scored in their fifth shutout this year

CLINTON, N.Y. – Hamilton College's Olivia Zubarik '25 found the back of the net twice and the Continentals breezed by the Bates College Bobcats 5-0 in NESCAC action at Hamilton's Love Field on Sunday, Oct. 6.

Season Update

  • Hamilton (5-3-2, 2-3-2 NESCAC) has won three of its last four matches.
  • Bates (4-4-1, 1-4-0) dropped its third straight conference contest.

How It Happened

  • Hamilton took a 1-0 lead in the 27th minute when Haley Cramer '28 scored. Zubarik sent a corner kick to the edge of the 6-yard box where Maddie Ledbury '26 made a quick one-touch pass to Cramer on the far side of the 18-yard box. Cramer squeezed past two Bates defenders and launched a strong shot into the upper-left corner.
  • The Continentals extended their lead with 9:18 remaining in the first half when Ledbury scored on a corner kick from Lauren Hanna '25. Hanna delivered a perfectly placed kick toward the top of the 6-yard box where Ledbury headed a shot that bounced past the diving keeper.
  • Isabel Harvey '28 gave Hamilton a 3-0 cushion on a goal less than two minutes into the second half. Zubarik applied pressure in Hamilton's defensive zone and intercepted a pass before passing it over to Cramer. Cramer cut to the middle and navigated past several defenders before setting up Harvey at the top of the 18-yard box. Harvey slipped and turned to her left, firing a shot that found the lower-left corner of the net.
  • The Continentals stretched their lead on a goal by Zubarik in the 61st minute. Hamilton moved up the field as Rayhill maneuvered through traffic before sending it to Zubarik near the top-right corner of the 18-yard box. Zubarik baited her defender, showcased a nasty cut and unleashed a left-footed no-doubter to the upper left 90.
  • Zubarik scored Hamilton's fifth and final goal in the 71st minute as she converted from the penalty spot after a Bates handball in the 18-yard box.
  • Hamilton owned a 19-9 shot advantage with 12 on net.
  • The Continentals carried a 7-3 edge on corner kicks.
