Men's soccer unbeaten in last four after 2-1 win over Colby

First goal this season for Margaronis '25 in the 60th minute was the difference for the Continentals

CLINTON, N.Y. - Hamilton College's Pandelis Margaronis '25 broke a tie in the 60th minute with his first goal this season and secured a 2-1 NESCAC win against the Colby College Mules on Hamilton's Love Field on Saturday, Oct. 5.

Season Update

  • Hamilton (4-4-2, 2-3-1 NESCAC) extended its unbeaten streak to four matches.
  • Colby (3-6-0, 0-6) dropped its third straight contest.

How it Happened

  • After a scoreless first half, Jude Rouhana '25 quickly put the Continentals on the board  1:05 into the second. Luke Peplowski '25 beat two defenders on the left side of the box, taking the ball straight towards the goal. Peplowski was swarmed by defenders once again but got a pass off as he fell, finding Rouhana on the other side of the box. Rouhana blasted the ball past the Colby keeper into the center of the goal.
  • Colby evened the score nine minutes later with 35:54 left on a penalty kick by Mario Simoes. Colby had a quick break up the field, leading to a one-on-one opportunity for the Mules against Hamilton goalkeeper Finn Wheeler '27. After a Colby player took a shot that hit the crossbar, another Colby player tried to gather the ball and head it into the goal. A Hamilton player collided with the Colby player as he headed the ball, leading to a call for a penalty kick. Simoes took the penalty for his injured teammate, swiftly guiding the ball into the top-right corner of the goal.
  • Margaronis put the Continentals back in front a little more than five minutes later. Luke Ehrenfreund '25 threw the ball into the left side of the box and it sailed right in front of the goal. After a quick bounce, Margaronis used the outside of his right foot to sneak the ball past a Colby defender and into the back of the net.
  • The Continentals outshot the Mules 15-9 with six of those shots on goal compared to Colby's two.
