CLINTON, N.Y. - A Bates College defender scored an own goal early in the second half and the Hamilton College Continentals shut out the Bobcats 1-0 in NESCAC action on Hamilton's Love Field on Sunday, Oct. 6.
Season Update
- The Continentals (5-4-2, 3-3-1 NESCAC) have won three straight and are unbeaten in their last five matches.
- The Bobcats (6-4-1, 2-3-1) lost their third straight NESCAC match.
How it Happened
- Less than two minutes into the second half, a Bates defender headed the ball towards his goalkeeper. The ball dribbled past the keeper and into the back of the net.
- Hamilton controlled the action for much of the match, enjoying a 17-0 shot advantage and taking six corner kicks to Bates' one.
- The Continentals came close to scoring on several occasions, including when Luke Peplowski '25 missed a shot just high in the 66th minute.
Notes
- Peplowski tallied five shots, including two on goal.
- Finn Wheeler '27 registered his third clean sheet of the season.
- Bennett Hauck '26 had two shots in only 19 minutes of action.
- George Nassar saved four shots for Bates.
