Men’s soccer battles to scoreless NESCAC tie against Conn. College

Wheeler ’27 recorded four saves for the Continentals

NEW LONDON, Conn. – The Hamilton College Continentals battled to a scoreless NESCAC draw with the Connecticut College Camels at Conn. College's Freeman Field on Saturday, Oct. 12. 
 

Season Update

  • Hamilton (5-4-3, 3-3-2 NESCAC) is unbeaten in its last six matches. The Continentals are in fifth place in the conference standings with 11 points. 
  • Conn. College (5-1-4, 2-1-4) posted its fourth conference draw. The Camels are receiving votes in the United Soccer Coaches Division III Top 25 poll and are in sixth place in the standings with 10 points.  

How It Happened

  • Conn. College had a scoring opportunity just 3:24 into the first half, but Finn Wheeler '27 silenced the early hype with his first stop of the match. 
  • The Camels' best chance came in the 18th minute on a wide-open shot that Wheeler shut down. All four of Wheeler's saves came in the first half. 
  • A little over three minutes after checking in, Hamilton's Jameson Mannix '26 nearly struck in the 72nd minute with a hard, high shot that was tipped over the crossbar by Peter Silvester. 
  • Luke Ehrenfreund '25 produced Hamilton's final on-target attempt in the 78th minute, but Silvester secured the clean sheet with another save. 
  • The Continentals and Camels tallied seven shots apiece, with Conn. College posting four on target to Hamilton's three. 
  • Conn. College owned a 4-1 advantage on corner kicks. 

Notes

  • Jude Rouhana '25, Ehrenfreund and Mannix had Hamilton's shots on goal. 
  • Wheeler finished with four saves for the Continentals. He picked up his fourth shutout in nine starts this season.
  • Silvester made three stops for the Camels. 

Next Match

Hamilton hosts Amherst College (8-1-2, 4-1-1 NESCAC) on Saturday, Oct. 19 at 1:30 p.m. The Continentals will honor their 13 seniors before the start of the match.
