HARTFORD, Conn. – Trinity College's Eva Lekovic tallied 11 kills and the Bantams defeated the Hamilton College Continentals in three straight sets (25-16, 25-19, 25-14) inside Trinity's Ray Oosting Gymnasium on Friday, Oct. 18.
Season Update
- Hamilton (4-10, 1-6 NESCAC) was playing its seventh straight conference match.
- Trinity (16-3, 4-3) has won four of its last five matches.
How It Happened
- With the score knotted at 9-9 in the opening set, Trinity scored the next four points for a 13-9 edge. The Bantams led by as many as nine at 23-14. Hamilton tallied the next two points, but Trinity secured the set with a kill.
- After a series of early ties in the second set, the Bantams battled for a 12-9 lead and eventually widened the gap to 19-12. Hamilton scored five of the next six points and cut its deficit to 20-17, thanks to kills by Caitlin Allen '27, Ayzlinn Trefren '28 and Claire Cooper '26. The Bantams closed out the second set with a 5-2 run.
- Tied at 3-3, the Bantams rattled off four straight points for a 7-3 advantage. Trinity used a 7-2 spurt for a 14-5 cushion and led by at least seven points the rest of the way.
- Trinity registered a .254 hitting percentage with 47 kills.
Notes
- Elodie McGeiver '27 finished with a team-best nine kills and added eight digs.
- Mia Jessen '28 led Hamilton with 13 digs.
- Allen added three blocks for the Continentals.
- Cooper handed out a team-high 10 assists.
- Ava Boloyan and Annette Schlunk added nine kills apiece for the Bantams.
- Caroline Howell finished with 18 assists, 11 digs and two service aces.
- Grace Sullivan tallied 18 assists.
- The Trinity defense was led by Bella Caffuzzi (five blocks) and Scarlett Jago (19 digs).
