No. 22 field hockey shut out 3-0 at third-ranked Williams

Continentals play No. 16 Amherst in home finale on Saturday, Oct. 19 at 11 a.m.

WILLIAMSTOWN, Mass. – Williams College's Kiki Higgins posted a goal and an assist in the Ephs' 3-0 NESCAC win against the Hamilton College Continentals at Williams' Williamson Field on a cold Wednesday evening, Oct. 16.
 

Season Update

  • Nationally ranked No. 22 Hamilton (7-6, 3-5 NESCAC) has dropped three straight conference games.
  • The third-ranked Ephs (11-0, 8-0) recorded their eighth shutout in 11 contests.
 

How It Happened

  • Williams' Pilar Torres scored on a penalty stroke late in the first quarter and Higgins made it 2-0 with a goal on another penalty stroke midway through the second quarter.
  • The Continentals' Delaney Grace '25 put a shot on cage that was turned away by Ellie Smith midway through the third quarter. It was Hamilton's only shot on goal.
  • Madeline Rowland accounted for the final margin on her goal with 5:33 left in the fourth quarter.
 

Notes

  • Abby Griffin '26 started in the cage for the Continentals and stopped all four shots she faced.
  • Kelly Janssen '28 came in to face the penalty strokes and then relieved Griffin at the start of the third quarter. Janssen finished with four saves.
  • The Ephs outshot Hamilton 8-0 in the second and fourth quarters.
  • Williams was awarded nine penalty corners to the Continentals' two, including a 5-0 advantage in the fourth quarter.
 

Next Game

Hamilton plays its eighth ranked team this season on Saturday, Oct. 19 when the Continentals host No. 16 Amherst College (7-5, 2-5). The game starts at 11 a.m.
