NEW LONDON, Conn. – Connecticut College's Bridget McGann and Kellyn Scheel scored goals and the Camels held on for a 2-1 NESCAC win against the Hamilton College Continentals at Conn. College's Silfen Field on Saturday, Oct. 12.
Season Update
- Nationally ranked No. 22 Hamilton (7-5, 3-4 NESCAC) lost to an unranked team for the first time this season.
- The Camels (5-5, 2-4) have outscored opponents 12-2 during their current three-game win streak.
How It Happened
- Conn. College grabbed a 1-0 lead with 5:16 left in the first quarter on McGann's goal after a pass from Katie Dolan.
- Scheel provided the Camels a two-goal cushion with 5:46 remaining in the second quarter following a penalty corner. Sadie Gearan had the assist.
- The Continentals cut their deficit in half with 9:15 to go in the third quarter. Delaney Grace '25 inserted the ball on a penalty corner to Claire Tratnyek '26 near the top of the arc. Tratnyek passed to Lydon Kelley '25 on her right and Kelley took the ball to the end line. Kelley fired a centering pass to Lilly Truchon '26 who one-timed a shot from close range into the back of the cage.
- Hamilton pulled their goalkeeper for another field player with 2:45 left in the fourth quarter. The Continentals' last chance to draw even came with a little more than two minutes remaining when Kelley's backhand shot from a few feet to the left of the penalty stroke dot was batted away by Liz Winemaster.
Notes
- Truchon has four goals in the last six games and has 15 in her Hamilton career.
- Kelley, who leads the Continentals with 13 points, collected her first career assist.
- Abby Griffin '26 started in the cage and played the entire first half.
- Kelly Janssen '28 relieved Griffin at the start of the third quarter and made two saves.
- Morgan Clarke '28 was credited with a defensive save and is tied for fourth in the NESCAC with three.
- Hamilton owned a 15-7 shot advantage and was awarded six corners to Conn. College's four.
- The Continentals have played eight games, including five in a row, that have been decided by a 2-1 score.
