CLINTON, N.Y. – Hamilton College's
Taylor Lambo '26 registered 20 points and the Continentals fought for a 77-66 NESCAC win against the Williams College Ephs on Hamilton's Coach Tom Murphy Court inside Margaret Bundy Scott Field House on Saturday, Jan. 6.
Season Update
- Hamilton (12-2, 1-1 NESCAC) set a season high with the 77 points.
- Williams (7-8, 0-2) dropped its second NESCAC contest in as many days.
How It Happened
- The Ephs trailed by three points at the start of the third quarter but opened the second half with a basket. Kendall Harris '27 countered with five straight points and put the Continentals up 37-31 with 8:37 left.
- The Continentals gathered their largest lead of 19 points at 52-33 after a 15-0 run capped by a Courtney Shay '24 3-pointer with 3:28 remaining.
- Hamilton carried a comfortable 59-42 lead into the fourth quarter. The Continentals were 11 of 14 from the floor and made all three 3-point attempts in the third.
- Williams responded with an 11-0 run in the first five minutes of the fourth quarter and cut their deficit to six points at 59-53. The Ephs got as close as four points at 69-65 on a 3-ball by Tatum Leuenberger with 2:02 remaining, but the Continentals finished 4-for-6 at the line in the final 1:17. Williams was 0 of 4 from the field after Leuenberger's 3-pointer.
- Harris and Althea Hill '26 drained back-to-back 3-pointers for an early 6-0 lead.
- Emily Hall '24 scored on consecutive possessions and put the Continentals up 10-2 three minutes into the first quarter.
- The Ephs stirred up a 7-2 spurt and cut Hamilton's lead to 12-9 with 4:19 remaining.
- Williams closed out the opening quarter with a 5-0 run and trailed by just two points at 16-14.
- The second quarter featured three ties and four lead changes as neither team led by more than four.
- Harris was sent to the line with just nine ticks to go after she was fouled from beyond the arc and made them all for a 32-29 advantage at the break.
- Hamilton shot 51.9 percent (28-54) from the floor, including 7 of 15 from 3-point land, and went 14-for-20 (70 percent) at the line.
- Williams shot 34.4 percent (21-61) from the field, including 5 of 17 from beyond the arc, and 79.2 percent (19-24) at the charity stripe.
- The Continentals owned a 40-28 advantage on the glass.
Notes
- Hamilton defeated Williams for the first time since Dec. 6, 2008 (70-58 at home).
- Lambo is fifth in the NESCAC with 15.4 points per game.
- Harris collected her sixth consecutive double-figure performance with 19 points as she went 3 of 4 from beyond the arc. She added seven rebounds and two blocks.
- Hall contributed 10 points and a season-high eight assists.
- Piper Seamon '24 chipped in eight points off the bench.
- Maria Mercado Rengel '24 netted seven points while Shay finished with six points and seven boards.
- Arianna Gerig led Williams with 21 points and four assists.
- Leuenberger pitched in 18 points off the bench and fellow reserve Smith had 10 points and three blocked shots.
- Cortland McBarron grabbed a team-best seven rebounds for the Ephs.
