CLINTON, N.Y. – Hamilton College's
Emily Hall '24 poured in 19 points and the Continentals cruised to a 65-47 NESCAC win over the Wesleyan University Cardinals on Hamilton's Coach Tom Murphy Court inside Margaret Bundy Scott Field House on Saturday, Jan. 27.
Season Update
- Hamilton (15-6, 3-4 NESCAC) won for the third time in its last four games.
- Wesleyan (10-8, 1-5) dropped its second straight contest.
How It Happened
- Wesleyan made the first two baskets, but the Continentals got hot and scored the next nine points for a 9-4 advantage with 4:41 to go.
- Taylor Lambo '26 finished 4-for-4 at the line in the last 3:06 for a 13-6 lead heading into the second stanza.
- Althea Hill '26 buried a 3-ball to put the Continentals up 16-7 with 7:50 remaining.
- Felicia Fongemie notched a shot from long distance and pulled the Cardinals within six points at 16-10.
- Courtney Shay '24 and Kendall Harris '27 hit back-to-back jumpers for a 20-10 cushion with 6:24 left.
- Up 26-16, Harris closed out the second quarter with a shot from 3-point range and a pair of free throws for a 15-point cushion at 31-16 at the half.
- Hamilton built its largest lead of the night of 20 points at 38-18 on a layup by Shay with 6:05 to go in the third quarter.
- Trailing 40-22, the Cardinals used a 9-0 spurt to slash Hamilton's lead to single digits at 40-31 with 1:36 remaining.
- Hall wrapped up the third quarter with a pair of jumpers for a 44-31 advantage.
- Shay drained a 3-pointer and Lambo made a layup for a comfortable 63-43 lead with 2:55 left on the clock.
- Hamilton shot 42.1 percent (24-57) from the field and went 13-for-15 at the line.
- Wesleyan shot 27 percent (17-63) from the floor, including 23.5 percent (4-17) from beyond the arc, and 9-for-12 at the charity stripe.
- The Continentals carried a 44-35 advantage on the glass.
- Hamilton's seven seniors were honored prior to tip-off.
