Men’s basketball rolls past SUNY Potsdam, Morgan ’25 scores 22

Continentals combined for a season-high 26 assists in non-conference win

CLINTON, N.Y. – Hamilton College's Hank Morgan '25 drained 22 points and the Continentals breezed by the SUNY Potsdam Bears, 94-70, on Hamilton's Coach Tom Murphy Court inside Margaret Bundy Scott Field House on Tuesday, Jan. 16. 
 
Season Update
  • Hamilton (9-7 overall) has won five of its last six contests. 
  • SUNY Potsdam, which is a member of the State University of New York Athletic Conference, moved to 3-12 overall. 
How It Happened
  • Hamilton opened the scoring on a 9-2 run within the first three minutes.  
  • Potsdam's Parker Kelly netted a 3-pointer and put the Bears within three points at 12-9 with 15:47 left.
  • Teja Singh '25 buried a 3-ball and gave the Continentals a double-digit lead at 43-33 with 5:20 remaining. 
  • The Bears pulled within five points with 1:26 left, but Sharif Nelson '26 and Singh knocked down back-to-back 3-pointers for an 11-point advantage at 53-42 with 43 seconds to go in the first half. 
  • Parker Kelly made a layup in the final 10 seconds and cut Potsdam's deficit to nine points at the break. 
  • Hamilton started the second stanza on a 6-0 run with made layups from Owen Kane '25 and Morgan, and a jumper in the paint from Jalen Reese '27 for a 59-44 edge with 18:42 left. 
  • Morgan made a trio of 3-pointers for a 70-51 cushion with 14:50 left on the clock. 
  • The Bears answered with seven straight points to narrow the Continentals' lead to 12 points at 70-58 with 12:44 remaining. 
  • The Continentals sparked an 8-0 run for an 86-66 advantage with 6:22 on the clock. Graham Robinson '25 ignited the rally with a jumper on a pass from Christian McDaniel '24, and Reese connected for a layup and capped the spurt on a pair at the line. 
  • Morgan slammed a dunk and followed with a layup, Nelson canned a fast-break layup, and Jenkins drained a jumper to give Hamilton its largest lead of 26 points at 94-68 with 2:45 to go. 
  • Potsdam's Ethan Baksh scored a jumper with just 23 ticks remaining for the final margin. 
  • Hamilton shot 48.7 percent (38-78) from the floor, including 42.4 percent (14-33) from beyond the arc, and went 4-for-4 at the free-throw line. 
  • Potsdam shot 40.9 percent from the field, 37.5 percent (6-16) from long range, and went 10-for-14 at the charity stripe. 
  • Hamilton held a 44-36 advantage on the glass. 
  • The Continentals received 37 points from their bench.
Notes
  • Morgan shot 50 percent (9-18) from the floor, including 4 of 8 from 3-point range. He added six rebounds and five assists.
  • Reese was one rebound shy of a double-double with 11 points and a team-high nine boards. He dished out a season-high six assists and made three steals. 
  • Matthew Rideout '27 chipped in 11 points off the bench. 
  • Garret Keyhani '26 finished with 10 points and four rebounds. 
  • Nelson contributed a career-high nine points and two assists. 
  • Singh scored eight points and handed out a career-high seven assists. 
  • Kane chipped in six points, five rebounds and three assists. 
  • Kelly poured in a team-best 19 points for the Bears. He added six rebounds and three assists. 
  • Colton Huestis recorded 11 points. 
  • Kaleb Lewis registered nine points and seven boards.
  • Isaac Oduro Jr. finished with nine points, six rebounds and a team-best six assists for the Bears. 
Next Game
Hamilton travels to Amherst College (10-7, 2-2 NESCAC) for a NESCAC road game on Saturday, Jan. 20 at 3 p.m.
