Grace '25 scores twice, lifts No. 22 field hockey to win at Union

Junior leads the Continentals with three goals and six points

SCHENECTADY, N.Y. – Hamilton College's Delaney Grace '25 scored two goals and the Continentals edged the Union College Garnet Chargers 3-2 in a non-conference game played at Union's Frank Bailey Field on Wednesday, Sept. 27.

Season Update

  • Nationally ranked No. 22 Hamilton (4-3 overall) tied a season high with three goals and ended its losing skid at three games.
  • The Garnet Chargers (3-5) dropped their third straight game.

How It Happened

  • Lilly Truchon '26 gave the Continentals a 1-0 lead with 3:21 left in the first quarter. Off a penalty corner, Hannah Dillon '24 smashed a shot that Marion Stuntz kicked aside. The loose ball was sent to Alden Duserick '27 near the left post and her centering pass trickled past Stuntz. Truchon and several others crashed the cage and she poked the ball across the line.
  • Grace made it a two-goal advantage 2:09 into the third quarter and just a few seconds after she inserted the ball on a penalty corner.
  • After two Union penalty corners 11 seconds apart, Amy Vytopilova scored off a pass from Grace Krebs with 10:02 remaining in the third.
  • Megan Dorsey tied the score and Vytopilova had the assist with 6:45 to go in the third after another penalty corner.
  • Grace tallied the game-winner just 38 seconds into the fourth quarter. A penalty corner followed a shot by Grace that was stopped by Sophie Brady. Grace inserted the ball on the corner to Dillon at the top of the arc. Dillon passed to Alana King '24 on the left wing and King dropped it down to Grace positioned near the end line about five yards from the left post. Grace's shot found the back of the cage and broke the tie.
  • Hamilton's Abby Griffin '26 turned away a shot by Dorsey off a corner about two minutes later. Neither team was credited with another shot during the final 12 minutes.
