MIDDLEBURY, Vt. – Eastern Nazarene College's Andrea Aceituno posted 19 kills, 15 digs and three aces, and the Lions defeated the Hamilton College Continentals in four sets (25-13, 24-26, 25-21, 25-16) at Middlebury College's Pepin Gymnasium on Saturday, Sept. 23.
Season Update
- Hamilton dropped to 5-4 overall with its second loss at Middlebury in as many days.
- Eastern Nazarene, which is a member of the North Atlantic Conference, stayed undefeated at 10-0.
How It Happened
- The Lions scored the first four points in the first set and led the whole way.
- After Eastern Nazarene went up 24-23 on block assists by Morgan Bruner and Maria Clarabuch, the Continentals ran off the next three points and tied the match at one set apiece. Elodie McGeiver '27 and Summer McClintic '24 hammered kills and a Lions attack error ended the set.
- In the third set Eastern Nazarene broke a 10-10 tie with four straight points and led the rest of the set.
- The Lions jumped out to an 8-3 advantage in the fourth set and gradually pulled away to win the match.
Notes
- Drew Stimson '25 paced Hamilton with nine kills and three blocks.
- Kate Carman '24 chipped in nine kills.
- Melissa Morelli '24 handed out 28 assists and tied Stimson with three blocks. Morelli is fourth in the NESCAC with 7.68 assists per set.
- Rylee Bergeron '26 and Kendall Scholz '27 topped the defense with 15 digs apiece.
- McClintic and Hanna Cillo '24 registered a dozen digs apiece.
- Shantte Siliezar contributed 12 kills and Piper Bolner led all players with five blocks for Eastern Nazarene.
- Telma Zelaya passed out 41 assists and served three aces, and Amanda Pierce recorded a match-high 20 digs and pounded three aces.
- The Lions owned a 54-38 advantage in kills and served 14 aces to the Continentals' four.
