No. 15 field hockey falls to Tufts, Felker '26 scores goal

Continentals' two losses have come against top-five teams

MEDFORD, Mass. – Tufts University's Hannah Biccard scored three goals and the Jumbos defeated the Hamilton College Continentals 5-1 at Tufts' Ounjian Field on Saturday, Sept. 23.
 

Season Update

  • Nationally ranked No. 15 Hamilton dropped to 3-2 overall and 1-2 in the NESCAC. The Continentals have played four straight games against ranked opponents.
  • The fifth-ranked Jumbos (5-0, 3-0) have outscored their five opponents 19-5.
 

How It Happened

  • Biccard scored her first goal with 3:37 left in the first quarter and Lainie Pearson made it 2-0 with 1:17 remaining.
  • Biccard gave Tufts a three-goal cushion just 44 seconds into the second quarter.
  • Rachel Scrivanich scored the Jumbos' fourth goal 1:41 into the third quarter and Biccard rounded out Tufts' scoring on her fifth goal this season with 9:13 to go in the third.
  • Becky Felker '26 helped Hamilton avert the shutout with 5:07 left in the fourth quarter. Bridget O'Brien '24 inserted the ball on a penalty corner and Hannah Dillon '24 took a shot that Isabel Ginns was forced to stop. Felker was able to knock the loose ball into the cage.
 

Notes

  • Felker's goal is the second of her collegiate career.
  • Abby Griffin '26 started in the cage for the Continentals and made three saves.
  • Hamilton goalkeeper Reilly Loughman '27 made her first appearance and stopped one shot in 21-plus minutes.
  • Andrea DelGiudice was credited with two assists for the Jumbos.
  • Ginns and Lydia Eastburn combined to make three saves for Tufts.
  • The Jumbos held a 13-5 shot advantage and were awarded eight penalty corners to the Continentals' three.

Hamilton plays another NESCAC contest at Wesleyan University (5-1, 2-0) on Sunday, Sept. 24 at 1 p.m.
