UTICA, N.Y. – Hamilton College's
Erin Rayhill '25 scored two goals in a 78-second span late in the second half and lifted the Continentals to a 3-0 non-conference win against the Utica University Pioneers at Utica's Casamento Field on Wednesday, Sept. 20.
Season Update
- Hamilton, which received votes in this week's United Soccer Coaches Division III Top 25 poll, remained unbeaten at 3-0-2.
- The Pioneers (4-3-0 overall) had won their previous two home matches this season.
How It Happened
- The Continentals put the pressure on Utica right away as Katie Moses '25 hit the crossbar with a shot in the sixth minute.
- Hamilton took a 1-0 lead in the 25th minute. Olivia Zubarik '25 lofted a corner kick into the box and Tori Morelli '24 headed it past the goalkeeper.
- The Pioneers' best scoring chance came in the 31st minute. Kaela Mochak headed a corner kick by Rylee Lamphere into the post and Clare Robinson '25 kept the ball out of the goal after the deflection.
- The Continentals held that slim one-goal edge until the 88th minute. Zubarik's corner kick pinballed around the box and eventually Ryan Manning '27 ran onto it outside the 18. Manning quickly laid the ball off to her left to Rayhill and she pounded a shot into the back of the net from about 25 yards out.
- Rayhill scored again just 1:18 later. She gained control of the ball on the left wing, eluded a couple defenders and dribbled into the box. She didn't stop until she reached the center of the 18 where she hammered a shot off the inside of the right post and into the goal.
