CLINTON, N.Y. – Hamilton College's Erin Rayhill '25 and Daisy Sullivan '26 recorded one goal apiece and the Continentals posted a 2-1 NESCAC win against the Middlebury College Panthers at Hamilton's Love Field on Saturday.

Season Update
The Continentals remained unbeaten at 2-0-2 overall (1-0-2 NESCAC). Middlebury (2-1-1, 0-1-1 NESCAC) lost for the first time this season. The Panthers are ranked 14th in the United Soccer Coaches Top 25 poll.

How It Happened
  • Despite two quick shots by the Panthers, the Continentals broke into the scoring early with a goal by Rayhill just 9:20 into the first half. Hamilton gained possession after a Middlebury corner kick and the forward drove down the right side of the field. Rayhill rocketed a shot into the upper 90 for a 1-0 advantage.
  • Less than seven minutes into the second half, Hamilton added to its lead on a short goal by Sullivan. After a quick throw-in by Lauren Hanna '25, Oliva Zubarik '25 sent a cross into the box and the Panthers attempted to clear it out. The ball was tipped to Sullivan who sent a left-footed shot into the net.
  • The Panthers produced three shots in the next seven minutes but Nieve Tonna '26 made two saves for the Continentals.
  • With 15:37 remaining in the second half, Joely Virzi slashed Middlebury's deficit in half on a penalty kick goal.
  • The Panthers held a commanding 20-6 shot advantage with nine shots on goal.
