CLINTON, N.Y. – Hamilton College's
Emma Tansky '25 had five hits and picked up her seventh win in the circle as the Continentals split a non-conference doubleheader with the SUNY Oneonta Red Dragons at Hamilton's Loop Road Athletic Complex on Tuesday, May 2.
Season Update
- Hamilton (18-19 overall) earned the split with a 6-4 win in the nightcap.
- SUNY Oneonta (14-19-1), which is a member of the State University of New York Athletic Conference, claimed a 12-2 win in Game 1.
Game 1
How It Happened
- Oneonta jumped out to a 2-0 lead in the opening inning and added a run in the third.
- Hamilton countered with a run in the bottom half. Katlynn McGivney '23 led off with a single to center and advanced to second on a groundout. Charlie Quinn '25 tapped an infield single and Jordan Merklin '26 loaded the bases on a fielder's choice. With two outs, Alessandra Priante '24 roped an infield single to deep second base that scored McGivney.
- The Red Dragons took a run back in the fourth when they stole home for a 4-1 advantage.
- The Continentals quickly responded in the bottom of the fourth with their second run. Samantha Smith '23 led off with a single up the middle and moved into scoring position on a ground ball. Hamilton had runners on the corners after Tansky slapped an infield single between the pitcher and catcher. Quinn cut the Continentals' deficit in half with a run-scoring single to left.
- Oneonta pulled away with a run in the fifth, four in the sixth and three more in the seventh.

Game 2
How It Happened
- With the score knotted at 4-4, the Continentals rallied with two runs in the sixth. Alison Zorn '26 led off with a single down the left field line and was replaced by Sofia Santana '26 at first base. McGivney singled to third base and both runners moved up on a throwing error. Merklin drove in the go-ahead run with an infield single and advanced to second on a wild pitch. Mikayla Worzel '23 plated the second run with a sacrifice fly.
- Oneonta threatened in the seventh as the first two batters singled, but Tansky got out of the jam with a fielder's choice, a groundout to first base and a strikeout.
- The Continentals took a 2-0 lead in the first frame. McGivney led off with a bunt single, Merklin followed with another bunt for a single, and Quinn loaded the bases with a single to left. Worzel drove in McGivney on a fielder's choice and eventually stole second base. Tansky loaded the bases again with another infield single and Priante forced in a run with a walk.
- Hamilton made it 4-0 with two runs in the third. Quinn led off with a double to left, Worzel reached on a fielding error and Tansky loaded the bases on a fielder's choice. Taylor Santulli '25 entered as a pinch hitter and roped a single to left that scored pinch-runner Smith and Worzel.
- Oneonta found the scoreboard with a run in the fourth and tied things up in the fifth on Kayla Young's three-run homer.
Notes
- McGivney, Tansky and Merklin tallied two hits each. McGivney leads the NESCAC with a .467 batting average, 56 hits and 43 runs.
- Quinn singled and roped her sixth double of the season, and has eight hits in the last four games.
- Worzel and Santulli plated two runs apiece.
- Priante drove in her 16th run this season.
- Ella Heftved '25 added her 52nd career hit.
- Tansky (7-7) retired the first 10 batters she faced and pitched her seventh complete game. She allowed four runs on seven hits and struck out four.
- Haley went 2-for-3 with a triple for the Red Dragons.
- Aysia Oliver tallied two hits for Oneonta.
Next Game
- The Continentals host Middlebury College (17-13, 6-8 NESCAC) for a NESCAC doubleheader on Saturday, May 6 starting at noon. Hamilton will honor its three seniors during a ceremony before the first game.
