Game 1
How It Happened
- Hamilton scored three runs in the bottom of the first inning despite hitting just one ball out of the infield. Middlebury also helped the Continentals with some shaky defense. Katlynn McGivney '23 led off with a single to left field and Tansky reached on an infield single when the shortstop moved to her left, fell to her knees and had the ball kick off her glove. McGivney advanced to third on a fly ball to right and Tansky stole second. Mikayla Worzel '23 tapped a dribbler out in front of home plate and was safe at first. With the bases loaded, Jordan Merklin '26 hit a hard ground ball back to the pitcher that deflected off her glove and everyone was safe. Natalie Beebe '24 followed with a ground ball that the second baseman tried to flip with her glove to the shortstop covering second and the ball sailed over her head. Tansky scored on the play and it was 2-0. The shortstop booted a routine ground ball off the bat of Samantha Smith '23 and Worzel crossed home plate with the third run.
- Hamilton tacked on two more runs in the second. McGivney led off with an infield single towards third base, stole second and sprinted to third when the throw by the catcher ended up in center field. Tansky reached on another infield single and swiped second base. Charlie Quinn '25 smashed a line drive that bounced off the pitcher and McGivney scored. Beebe made it 5-0 with a two-out single to center that drove in Tansky.
- Tansky retired the first nine batters in order and then helped the Continentals take a 7-0 lead in the third. McGivney drew a two-out walk and stole second. Tansky singled just over the shortstop's head into shallow left-center field and McGivney moved to third. Quinn hammered a double to deep center that bounced up against the fence and drove in McGivney and Tansky.
- The Panthers managed just one baserunner during the first six innings and finally scored in the seventh on two singles and a sacrifice fly.

- Quinn tied a career best with three hits and drove in three runs. She added her 15th career double.
- McGivney went 2-for-2 with two walks, three runs and four stolen bases. She set career and single-season program records for stolen bases with 42 and 20, respectively.

- In the bottom of the inning Tansky got on base with an infield single towards shortstop with one away, but the next two batters flied out and grounded out to end the game.
- Hamilton grabbed a 1-0 lead in the second inning. Beebe led off with a walk and Alexis Mayer '26 pinch-ran for her. Ella Heftved '25 laid down a bunt single and Alison Zorn '26 moved the runners into scoring position with a sacrifice bunt. Alessandra Priante '24 scored Mayer with an infield single towards third base. The Continentals eventually left runners stranded at second and third.
- The Panthers tied the score the next half-inning on back-to-back Hamilton errors with two outs.
