Cleary '25 scored four goals for the Continentals and has 33 this season

CLINTON, N.Y. – Bates College's Shelby Howard scored four goals and Cammie Lavoie made 12 saves in the Bobcats' 12-10 NESCAC win against the Hamilton College Continentals at Hamilton's Steuben Field on a sunny but cool Saturday, April 8.
 

Season Update

  • The nationally ranked No. 23 Continentals (4-7, 1-6 NESCAC) dropped their fourth straight game.
  • Bates (5-7, 1-6) had lost its previous four contests.
 

How It Happened

  • Lauren Wong put the Bobcats in front 63 seconds into the first quarter and Bates never trailed.
  • Alex Orlando '25 tied the score on a free-position goal with 12:33 left in the first.
  • Hanna Matthews gave the Bobcats the lead for good 55 seconds later. Bates added two more goals and led 4-1 at the end of the quarter.
  • The Bobcats held a 6-4 advantage at the half and enjoyed a five-goal cushion at 10-5 after three quarters. Howard scored with 1:36 remaining in the third while Bates had a two-woman advantage as Hamilton players served simultaneous green and yellow cards.
  • Howard increased the lead to six at 12-6 on a pass from Wong with 7:37 to go.
  • The Continentals scored four goals in the last seven minutes, but their furious rally came up short. After a free-position goal by Sarah Creamer '26 with 1:32 left, the Bobcats won the ensuing draw and ran out most of the remaining 90 seconds.
 

Notes

  • Hamilton's Aine Cleary '25 scored four goals and is tied for fourth in the NESCAC with 33 this season. She's eighth with 37 points.
  • Creamer scored multiple goals (two) for the fourth time this season, and is second on the team with 19 points (13 goals, 6 assists).
  • Maddigan Leifer '26 scored her fourth goal and caused three turnovers.
  • Abby Smith '24 scored a goal for the fourth straight game and scooped up three ground balls.
  • Alana King '24 notched her 15th goal this season and Orlando tallied her 11th.
  • Olivia Chiota '24 was credited with her second career assist and Emma Toes '25 picked up her second this season.
  • Meghan Lane '24 won five draws and caused three turnovers. Lane leads the conference with 23 caused turnovers and is tied for ninth with 42 draw controls.
  • Sarah Moore '23 collected three ground balls.
  • Maeve Luparello '23 started in goal and made three saves. Casey Fiore '24 relieved Luparello at the start of the third quarter and stopped five shots in the second half.
  • In addition to the goals, Howard won a game-high six draws for Bates.
  • Lavoie was active around her crease as she caused two turnovers and grabbed four ground balls.
  • Maddy Roelofs had a goal and two assists, and Zoe Knauss tied Lavoie with four ground balls.
  • The Continentals held a 32-24 shot advantage, and their ride helped force the Bobcats into 11 unsuccessful clear attempts.
  • Bates dominated the third quarter as it owned a 10-4 edge in shots and Hamilton committed six turnovers.

The Continentals have another NESCAC contest at Williams College (9-1, 4-1) on Tuesday, April 11 at 6 p.m.
