LEWISTON, Maine – Hamilton College scored the first six goals and the Continentals cruised to a 15-6 NESCAC win against the Bates College Bobcats at Bates' Garcelon Field on Saturday afternoon.
Season Update
- Hamilton (5-5, 3-4 NESCAC) won on the road in the conference for the first time this season.
- The Bobcats (1-9, 0-7) dropped their third straight game.
How It Happened
- The Continentals led 6-0 with 3:18 left in the first quarter. Tim Sommer '23 scored two goals and Rowan Brumbaugh '23 had a goal and two assists during the run.
- Bates scored twice in the final minute of the first quarter, but Hamilton opened the second with four consecutive goals for a 10-2 advantage.
- The Continentals led 13-3 at the half. The Bobcats scored twice in a seven-second span in the last 54 seconds of the third quarter, but they still trailed 13-5 after three.
Notes
- Brumbaugh tied a career high with four assists and scored two goals for six points. He's tied for seventh in the NESCAC with 22 assists.
- Torben Wunderle '23 chipped in two goals and a career-best four helpers, tied a career-high with seven ground balls and caused three turnovers. Wunderle is tied for fourth in the conference with 33 goals and tied for sixth with 49 points.
- Justin Pearl '25 tallied a season-high three goals and an assist and tied a career-best with four points.
- Tim Sommer '23 scored three goals and Will Heher '25 found the back of the net a career-high three times.
- Ben Ryan '26 posted a goal and an assist for his second multi-point game.
- Thomas Healy '26 scored his 22nd goal in his return to the lineup after missing the previous two games.
- Reece Hickey '26 won 11 faceoffs, scooped up six ground balls and was credited with an assist.
- Jack Fried '25 made six saves in 53-plus minutes in his second collegiate start. Ben Keppler '26 played the final 6 minutes, 22 seconds and stopped two shots.
- Malcolm Klingbeil paced the Bates offense with three goals and an assist. Alex Horowitz contributed a goal and two helpers.
- Jackson Williams won 9 of 14 faceoffs and picked up seven ground balls.
- Garrett FitzSimons turned away 10 shots in the first half and Drew Nyhus made six saves in the final 30 minutes.
- Hamilton owned a big advantage in shots (53-33) and ground balls (53-35). The Continentals committed just 12 turnovers while the Bobcats racked up 27.
- Hamilton scored on its only man-up opportunity, and Bates was scoreless in six chances.
- The 15 goals for the Continentals are the most they have scored in 10 meetings with the Bobcats.
