Baseball defeats Williams, extends win streak to seven games

Continentals have scored 38 runs in their last two games.

CLINTON, N.Y. – Hamilton College scored four or more runs in four different innings and the Continentals cruised to an 18-7 NESCAC West Division win against the Williams College Ephs at Hamilton's Loop Road Athletic Complex on a sunny but windy and cool Friday, April 7.

Season Update

  • The Continentals (11-7, 3-0 NESCAC West) extended their win streak to seven games.
  • Williams (7-9, 2-2) has lost three straight.

How It Happened

  • The Ephs jumped out to a 2-0 lead in the top of the first inning on two hits and a walk.
  • Hamilton took the lead with four runs in the second inning. The Continentals loaded the bases on a single and two walks with no outs. Kenny Rix '25 drove in the first run with a sacrifice fly to left field. After the next batter struck out, Taylor Kaufman '26 tied the score with a single through the left side that drove in Ethan Harrast '23. Phil Bernstein '23 drove in the go-ahead run with a base hit up the middle and another run scored on a muffed throw from the outfield by the shortstop.
  • Hamilton padded its lead with five runs in the fifth inning. Shane Dux '24 hit a two-run single through the left side before the Continentals grounded into a double play. Michael Tallarida '26 and Kaufman followed with back-to-back RBI triples and Kaufman came home on an errant throw to the cutoff man for a 9-2 advantage.
  • Williams responded with two runs in the sixth, but Hamilton broke the game open with five more runs in the bottom of the inning. The first two runs scored on a wild throw to first by the pitcher on a sacrifice bunt and two more runs came home on sacrifice flies. Bernstein's run-scoring single through the left side made it 14-4.
  • The Ephs added two runs in the seventh and the Continentals came back with a four-spot in their half. Harrast's single to left-center field drove in Jackson Sattinger '24, who had led off with a double to left. Bernstein plated Hamilton's 18th run with a single up the middle.
