CLINTON, N.Y. – Hamilton College scored four or more runs in four different innings and the Continentals cruised to an 18-7 NESCAC West Division win against the Williams College Ephs at Hamilton's Loop Road Athletic Complex on a sunny but windy and cool Friday, April 7.
Season Update
- The Continentals (11-7, 3-0 NESCAC West) extended their win streak to seven games.
- Williams (7-9, 2-2) has lost three straight.
How It Happened
- The Ephs jumped out to a 2-0 lead in the top of the first inning on two hits and a walk.
- Hamilton took the lead with four runs in the second inning. The Continentals loaded the bases on a single and two walks with no outs. Kenny Rix '25 drove in the first run with a sacrifice fly to left field. After the next batter struck out, Taylor Kaufman '26 tied the score with a single through the left side that drove in Ethan Harrast '23. Phil Bernstein '23 drove in the go-ahead run with a base hit up the middle and another run scored on a muffed throw from the outfield by the shortstop.
- Hamilton padded its lead with five runs in the fifth inning. Shane Dux '24 hit a two-run single through the left side before the Continentals grounded into a double play. Michael Tallarida '26 and Kaufman followed with back-to-back RBI triples and Kaufman came home on an errant throw to the cutoff man for a 9-2 advantage.
- Williams responded with two runs in the sixth, but Hamilton broke the game open with five more runs in the bottom of the inning. The first two runs scored on a wild throw to first by the pitcher on a sacrifice bunt and two more runs came home on sacrifice flies. Bernstein's run-scoring single through the left side made it 14-4.
- The Ephs added two runs in the seventh and the Continentals came back with a four-spot in their half. Harrast's single to left-center field drove in Jackson Sattinger '24, who had led off with a double to left. Bernstein plated Hamilton's 18th run with a single up the middle.
Notes
- Dux went 3-for-3 with a walk and a career-high three runs batted in. The three hits are a season high.
- Bernstein finished with three hits and tied a career best with three RBI. He has eight multi-hit games this season.
- Sattinger had three hits, including his 14th career double, and scored three runs. He leads the team with a .423 batting average.
- Sattinger also picked up his second win this season after he pitched the first three innings. He allowed two runs on three hits, walked two and struck out three.
- Kaufman singled, tripled and drove in a season-high three runs.
- Tallarida singled and tripled and leads the team with a .921 slugging percentage.
- Harrast singled twice, walked twice and scored four runs.
- Rix plated a career-high three runs without the benefit of a base hit.
- Ed Connolly '23 pitched a scoreless ninth inning and lowered his ERA to 1.35 in nine relief appearances.
- Jakob Cohn stroked a solo home run over the fence in right field for Williams.
- Henry Juan hit two doubles and Brendan Stannard, Sasha Palma and Dave Mosrie chipped in one each. Stannard and Palma ended up with two hits apiece.
- Seven errors by the Ephs led to seven unearned runs.
- The Continentals have outscored their opponents 93-41 during their win streak. Hamilton has 38 runs in its last two games.
