AMHERST, Mass. – Amherst College's Autumn Lee went 4-for-5 and the Mammoths swept the Hamilton College Continentals in a NESCAC doubleheader at Amherst's Softball Field on Saturday afternoon.
Season Update
- Hamilton moved to 16-18 overall and 6-10 in the NESCAC.
- Amherst (21-11, 9-5) took a 5-2 win in the opener and recorded an 8-4 victory in Game 2.
Game 1
How It Happened
- Amherst plated two runs in its first at-bat and led the rest of the way.
- The Continentals slashed their deficit in half with a run on two hits and an error in the second frame. Emma Tansky '25 led off with a single to center field and Mikayla Worzel '23 drove her in with a two-out single to right.
- The Mammoths added single runs in the second, third and fourth innings for a 5-1 advantage.
- In the fifth inning Hamilton put runners on first and third with a single and an infield error with two outs but left them stranded.
- Hamilton rallied for a run in the final inning on three hits. Alessandra Priante '24 led off with a single to right field and Taylor Santulli '25 entered as a pinch hitter and ripped a single to left field. Worzel reached on a fielder's choice and Priante advanced to third. Katlynn McGivney '23 laid down a run-scoring squeeze bunt and was safe at first. The runners advanced to second and third on a ground ball to second base, but a groundout to third ended the threat and the game.

- Jordan Merklin '26 contributed a single and a stolen base for the Continentals.
- Natalie Beebe '24 pitched two scoreless innings in relief of the starter Tansky (6-6).
- Lee led Amherst at the plate with two hits and a run batted in.
- Jess Butler tallied two hits for the Mammoths and Megan Taketa scored three runs.
- Rachel Lovejoy and Abby Moravek added run-scoring doubles.
- Dani Torres Werra earned her seventh win of the season allowing one unearned run on four hits in five innings pitched.
Game 2
How It Happened
- The Mammoths took a 2-0 lead in the opening inning and never looked back.
- Hamilton took one run back in the top half of the second. Charlie Quinn '25 led off with a single up the middle, Tansky bunted for a hit and Priante scored Quinn on a groundout to the pitcher.
- Amherst had its best inning in the second with four runs on three hits, two walks and an error.
- The Continentals tacked on two runs in the fourth. Tansky led off with a single to the gap in right center and Beebe singled to right field. Worzel knocked a two-run double to left center with two outs and cut the Continentals' deficit to 6-3.
- The Mammoths countered with a two-run homer by Randi Finkelstein in the bottom half of the inning.
- Hamilton plated a run in the seventh inning. Worzel led off with a double to center and moved up when McGivney reached on a fielding error. Merklin knocked in Worzel with a groundout.
Notes
- Worzel, who drove in two runs for the first time in her career, has a six-game hitting streak. Five of her 12 hits this year are doubles.
- Priante drove in her 14th run while Merklin plated her 11th.
- McGivney notched her 50th hit this season.
- Taketa, Sadie Pool and Lee tallied two hits each for the Mammoths.
- Finkelstein finished with three runs batted in.
- Moravek picked up her eighth win in the circle with three earned runs on seven hits, one walk and one strikeout in six innings pitched.
