Men's lacrosse edged by Trinity in final home game, 12-11

Continentals are hanging onto eighth place in the NESCAC team standings

CLINTON, N.Y. – Trinity College's Jon Krikorian scored three goals and assisted on three more in the Bantams' 12-11 NESCAC win against the Hamilton College Continentals at Hamilton's Withiam Field as the temperature reached 80 degrees on Saturday, April 15.

Season Update

  • The Continentals (6-6, 4-5 NESCAC) are in eighth place in the team standings with one conference game remaining. The top eight teams advance to the 2023 NESCAC Men's Lacrosse Championship quarterfinals on Saturday, April 29.
  • Trinity (7-6, 4-4) is tied for sixth place with two conference games left.

How It Happened

  • Krikorian put the Bantams ahead for good at 10-9 on a pass from Ethan Cobb with 9:59 left in the fourth quarter.
  • Harrison Ike gave Trinity a two-goal cushion on a feed from Andrew Bailey with 7:35 remaining.
  • An unassisted effort by Thomas Healy '26 pulled Hamilton within one with 5:56 to go. After Cobb restored the Bantams' two-goal cushion with 2:53 left, Torben Wunderle '23 found Rowan Brumbaugh '23 for a goal from close range, and it was 12-11 with 1:26 remaining.
  • Reece Hickey '26 won the ensuing faceoff for the Continentals. Hamilton took two shots that missed the target and then turned the ball over with 34 seconds to go. The Continentals called a timeout to set up defensive pressure and eventually goalkeeper Jack Fried '25 intercepted a long pass, but Hamilton didn't have enough time to set up in the offensive end again.
  • The Continentals took a 3-0 lead late in the first quarter. Two of the three goals were scored during man-up opportunities.
  • Hamilton led 4-2 after one quarter and 7-4 at the half. Trinity opened the third quarter with four straight goals and took its first lead at 8-7 with 8:48 left when Colin Sharp found the back of the net.
  • Matt Mirkovic '23 and Troy Pollock '25 scored late in the third for the Continentals, and they took a 9-8 edge into the fourth quarter.
