CLINTON, N.Y. – Hamilton College's
Emma Tansky '25 racked up six strikeouts in 6.2 scoreless innings of relief in Game 2, and the Continentals split a NESCAC doubleheader with the Bates College Bobcats at Hamilton's Loop Road Athletic Complex on Saturday afternoon.
Season Update
- Hamilton (15-13, 5-7 NESCAC) bounced back in the nightcap with a 3-2 win.
- Bates (11-9, 5-5) rallied with seven runs in the eighth inning for an 8-1 victory in the opener.
Game 1
How It Happened
- Hamilton opened the scoring in the bottom of the first. Tansky reached base on an error, Alessandra Priante '24 drew a walk and Natalie Beebe '24 hit a run-scoring single up the middle.
- Bates evened the score in the sixth inning on back-to-back doubles with one out.
- The Continentals left two runners in scoring position in the bottom of the inning.
- The Bobcats plated seven runs in the eighth on three hits, three hit batters, a walk and an infield error.
- The Continentals threatened in the bottom half as they loaded the bases with one out on three singles. Bates got out of the jam by forcing out a runner at home on a ground ball to shortstop and getting a strikeout.
Notes
- Jordan Merklin '26 led Hamilton at the dish with a season-best three hits.
- Beebe and Charlie Quinn '25 collected two hits apiece.
- Priante, Alison Zorn '26 and Mikayla Worzel '23 tallied one hit each. Zorn hit her seventh double.
- Madison Hollis plated a team-best three runs on two doubles for Bates.
- Kennedy Jones drove in two runs on two doubles and a triple for the Bobcats.
- Rachel Liazos knocked in one run on two hits.
- Hollis picked up her fourth win of the season as she allowed one unearned run with three strikeouts in eight innings.
- Beebe tied a career high with 12 strikeouts in 7.1 innings. She allowed three earned runs on eight hits and a walk.
Game 2
How It Happened
- Bates jumped out to a 2-0 lead in its first at-bat on a pair of singles and two walks.
- Hamilton cut its deficit in half in the bottom of the fourth inning on a run-scoring double by Worzel with two outs. Priante led off the inning with a walk and stole second.
- The Continentals took the lead with two outs in the fifth inning. Tansky hit an infield single, Katlynn McGivney '23 knocked a hit up the middle and Priante kept the offense hot with a single through the right side that plated Tansky. The Continentals rocked the boat on a double steal by Priante and McGivney for the 3-2 edge.
- The Bobcats could only muster an infield single during the last two innings.
Notes
- McGivney led Hamilton at the plate with two hits. She's second in the NESCAC with a .494 batting average and leads the conference with 44 hits.
- Priante has hit safely in 16 of the last 17 games.
- Worzel cracked her second career double.
- McGivney and Priante recorded two stolen bases apiece.
- Merklin has half her 12 hits in the last five games.
- Tansky picked up her 67th career hit.
- Tanksy collected her fifth win of the season after she was put in the circle in the first inning. She allowed just two hits and walked two as she lowered her ERA to 4.22.
- Cassidy Musco collected two of Bates' four hits.
- Ella Maher drove in the Bobcats' first run with a single.
