Suratts make quarters in men's squash U.S. doubles championships

Nisar '24 competed in the national collegiate individual championships for the Continentals

PHILADELPHIA – Hamilton College's Tate Suratt '24 and Tobey Suratt '26 reached the quarterfinals of the men's open division in the 2023 U.S. Intercollegiate Doubles Championships at the Arlen Specter US Squash Center on Saturday.
 
The brothers played their first match on Friday afternoon and cruised in three games (11-6, 11-6, 11-1) against Brown University's Samuel Lew and Will McLaren. The Suratts moved on to the second round where they took on Amherst College's Robinson Armour and Abhimanyu Gupta on Saturday morning, and again they prevailed in three games (11-8, 11-5, 11-7).
 
Tobey and Tate's run ended in the quarterfinals against Lucas Spiro and Alexander Orr of the U.S. Naval Academy on Saturday afternoon. Spiro and Orr claimed the victory in three games (11-8, 11-6, 11-3).
 
Waleed Nisar '24 competed in the 2023 College Squash Association National Collegiate Individual Championships at the Specter Squash Center on Friday. Nisar played at the third position for the Continentals during the CSA team championships last weekend.
 
Nisar was seeded 16th in the Molloy East Division and played top seed Lewis Anderson of St. Lawrence University in the first round on Friday morning. Anderson won in three games (11-5, 11-1, 11-1). In the consolation draw quarterfinals, Nisar fell to Colby College's Youssif Mostafa in three games (11-5, 11-2, 12-10). Mostafa was the eighth seed in the division.
 
These events marked the end of the 2022-23 season for the Continentals.
