CAMBRIDGE, Mass. – Massachusetts Institute of Technology's Ryan Gebhardt scored seven goals and added five assists, and the Engineers recorded a 21-15 non-conference win against the Hamilton College Continentals at MIT's Roberts Field on Wednesday evening.
Season Update
- Hamilton (3-3 overall) dropped its first non-conference game out of three this season.
- The Engineers (6-1) are receiving votes in the U.S. Intercollegiate Lacrosse Association Division III Top 20 poll.
How It Happened
- MIT led 4-0 with 6:55 left in the first quarter and never trailed.
- The Continentals scored three times in the final 3:26 of the first and pulled within 5-3 after one. Tim Sommer '23, Rowan Brumbaugh '23 and Torben Wunderle '23 scored unassisted goals for Hamilton.
- The Engineers notched the next 12 goals as they held the Continentals scoreless for more than 22 minutes. Nick Stiles' goal gave MIT a 17-3 advantage with 10:55 remaining in the third quarter.
- A furious rally by Hamilton resulted in a dozen goals in the last quarter-and-a-half, but the Continentals didn't get closer than six in the final three minutes of the fourth quarter.
Notes
- Wunderle paced the Hamilton offense with six points on five goals and an assist. He leads the team with 20 goals and 30 points.
- Brumbaugh chipped in three goals and a helper. He leads the Continentals with 13 assists.
- Justin Pearl '25 and Thomas Healy '26 scored two goals apiece. Healy has at least one goal in every game this season.
- Reece Hickey '26 added a goal and an assist for his first collegiate points, and won 12 faceoffs.
- Johnny Oblak '24 tied a career high with five ground balls.
- Seamus Fagan '23 came up with 13 saves for Hamilton.
- Zach Bleil helped Gebhardt with two goals and three assists for the Engineers.
- Matthew Sardis won 23 of 31 faceoffs and scooped up 18 ground balls for MIT.
- Chris Perrino caused three turnovers and Devin McCabe stopped five shots.
- The Engineers held the Continentals to 13 successful clears on 21 attempts.
- This was the first-ever meeting between Hamilton and MIT.

The Continentals return to conference play on Saturday, March 25 with a home contest against Colby College at 1 p.m.
