Orlando ’25 netted a career-high five goals in NESCAC win for the Continentals

NEW LONDON, Conn. – Hamilton College's Alex Orlando '25 scored a career-high five goals and the Continentals posted a 16-8 NESCAC win over the Connecticut College Camels at Conn. College's Silfen Field on Saturday afternoon. 
 
Season Update
  • Hamilton (2-3, 1-2 NESCAC) is ranked 22nd in the IWLCA Division III Top 25 poll. 
  • Connecticut College moved to 3-2 overall and 0-2 in the NESCAC. 
 
How It Happened
  • The Camels scored just 1:07 into the opening quarter and added their second goal 1:53 later for a 2-0 advantage. 
  • Aine Cleary '25 put Hamilton on the board 4:30 into the first with an unassisted goal after a ground ball pickup. 
  • Connecticut College's Aine Downey added to the Camels' lead with 7:14 left. 
  • Orlando cut Hamilton's deficit to one on a goal assisted by Sarah Creamer '26. 
  • The Continentals evened the score with a free-position goal by Orlando 2:05 into the second quarter. 
  • After the Camels went back on top with 9:45 remaining, Hamilton closed out the quarter with four unanswered goals for a 7-4 lead heading into the break. Orlando, Cleary, Sarah Stonestreet '25 and Alana King '24 scored during the spurt. 
  • King stretched the Continentals' lead to 8-4 with 10:53 to go in the third quarter. 
  • Emily Yorns netted a goal for the Camels with 8:20 left. 
  • Orlando scored on a pass from Sydney Klepper '26 while Hamilton was up a player for a 9-5 score. 
  • Hamilton added another goal by King with 3:49 remaining after a ground ball pickup by Meghan Lane '24 and a successful clear.
  • The Camels countered with three consecutive goals in the last 3:27 of the third and cut their deficit to 10-8. 
  • Hamilton pulled away in the fourth quarter with six goals while completely shutting down Conn. College's offense. The Continentals scored on all four of their free-position shots. The Camels committed eight turnovers and were just 2-for-5 on clears.
Notes
  • Cleary recorded four goals and picked up four ground balls. She leads Hamilton with 16 goals and 17 points. 
  • King scored a season-high three goals and has eight this season. 
  • Stonestreet tallied two goals and an assist for three points for the second time in three games. 
  • Emma Toes '25 registered one goal and an assist.
  • Creamer collected one goal and her first collegiate assist. 
  • Maddigan Leifer '26 dished out her first collegiate assist. 
  • Marin Ciardiello '26 passed out her second assist of the year. 
  • Klepper handed out her team-high sixth assist of the season. 
  • Lane picked up a team-best six ground balls and three caused turnovers. She won seven of Hamilton's 13 draw controls. Lane leads the team with 19 draws, 17 ground balls and 13 caused turnovers.
  • Sarah Moore '23 had three caused turnovers. 
  • Hamilton had 25 ground balls to Connecticut College's 18, and the Continentals held a 28-20 shot advantage.
  • Hamilton was successful on 21 of 22 clear attempts. 
  • Maeve Luparello '23 and Casey Fiore '24 combined to make seven saves as each played 30 minutes. 
  • Emily Yorns, Kate Coughlin and Julianna Ingrassia had two goals each for the Camels.
  • Abigail Gleeson-Feldman picked up a team-best four ground balls, and Ingrassia won six draws. 
  • Violette Nidds tallied seven saves for Conn. College.

  • Hamilton will host the University of Rochester for a non-conference matchup at Steuben Field on Tuesday, March 21 at 4 p.m.
